The company DUVAL ARNO DISTRIBUTION (SAS) is recruiting for the needs of its services:
01 LEGAL MANAGER
Nature of the contract: Permanent
Location: Douala – Cameroon
Offer opening date: March 7, 2025
MISSIONS OF THE POSITION:
The Legal Manager’s role is to ensure the legal compliance of the company’s activities and to
protect its interests in terms of legal risks. He provides an advisory, risk management and legal representation with various internal and external stakeholders.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
LEGAL ADVICE AND SUPPORT
– Provide legal advice and support to senior management and
operational staff;
– Make strategic legal recommendations for the company to enable it to comply
with current legislation or anticipate
regulatory changes;
– Check the validity of signature delegations and regulated information and publications;
– Ensure the drafting of legal notes intended for operational staff;
– Provide support to operational staff in various forms: responses to calls for tender,
drafting of framework agreements or negotiated procedures, commercial contracts, management of
insurance and banking conditions in their legal aspects, general terms and conditions of
sale, partnership contracts, subcontracting, employment contracts, etc.
– Organize a database of standard contracts;
– Analyze the legal risks of operations, and raise awareness among all employees of these
risks;
– Ensures the legal compliance of all agreements, contracts and all acts of the company.
PRE-LITIGATION AND LITIGATION MANAGEMENT
– Define the procedures for managing pre-litigation and litigation in conjunction with the operational staff
concerned, and, where appropriate, with the help of external consultants: debt recovery, follow-up unpaid debts, requests for payment injunctions, contentious procedures, commercial disputes,
social disputes;
– Manage and investigate legal cases;
– Monitor disputes: assess their nature, follow them up, limit contentious action;
– Advise, if necessary, on the nature of the legal action to be taken;
– Represent the company before certain administrative authorities and before the courts;
– Manage relations with the various stakeholders: notaries, land registry office,
professional federations, consumer associations, etc.
IMPLEMENTATION OF LEGAL WATCH
– Organize ongoing legal monitoring of the activities of the company or its customers by
monitoring both the development of national and sometimes international regulations as well as
case law, so as to also inform general management and/or
operational departments about the practices of other companies in the sector;
– Prepare legal documentation for the company;
– Organize the collection of legal advice needs from all operational departments
: documentary sources, competitive intelligence, internal achievements, etc.
– Choose external expert firms to provide advice on specialized subjects;
– Maintain an information network, strategies for collecting and disseminating
legislative and regulatory texts.
TEAM MANAGEMENT
– Distribute work and set objectives for employees;
– Support employees in carrying out their missions;
– Monitor, record and evaluate employee performance;
– Assess employee skills;
– Coordinate and participate in the implementation of the safety and environment policy within
the unit;
– Manage the unit’s budget and resources;
– Participate in all other activities at the request of management (seminars,
budget conferences, etc.);
– Organize continuity of service in the unit.
PROFILE
Education and Professional Experience:
Academic level: minimum BAC + 4 in business law/corporate law/commercial law/
social law, etc.)
Language level: French (fluent) and English (intermediate)
Professional experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in
a commercial activity company. Significant experience in team management and steering
strategic legal projects.
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
– Expertise in business law, commercial law, corporate law, tax law,
social law, etc.;
– Good legal knowledge of the company’s field of activity;
– Excellent command of contract drafting and negotiation;
– Ability to interpret legal texts and anticipate risks;
– Ability to structure files, classify and archive documents methodically
(digitally and physically)
– Excellent communication and relationship management skills with
internal and external stakeholders;
– Very good use of digital tools and legal databases;
– Fluency in English and particularly legal English.
– Strong organizational skills;
– Critical, analytical and synthesis skills; –
Reliability, discretion and confidentiality; – Sense of
service and team spirit .
