The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been present in Cameroon since the early 1960s. The regional office in Cameroon is also responsible for coordinating GIZ activities in Chad, the Central African Republic, Gabon and Sao Tome & Principe.

 


As part of its activities in Cameroon, the International NGO Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is seeking the following activities for the needs of its activities: 

Position: 02 IT Experts
 
Description
The Rural Development Cluster (RDC) consists of several projects in the sector that aim to improve the economic situation of the rural population, particularly women and youth in Cameroon. The target group of the projects varies between the technical ministerial departments involved, specialized institutions, agricultural training schools and the private sector, associated with producer and processor organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The incumbent will work for the projects PADER (GIZ – Rural Development Support Programme III), AgSyS (GIZ- Sustainable Agricultural Systems and Policies Project) and SCP (GIZ- Sustainable Cocoa Initiative Programme Project). The positions are based in Yaoundé and Garoua.
The post holder will allocate 45% of his/her time to the new PADER III phase, 45% to the AgSyS project and 15% to SCP.
A. Area of ​​responsibility
Under the supervision of the Administrative and Financial Manager of PADER III Projects; AgSyS and SCP, the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

  •  Computer system and network administration (without server management);
  • Operational and technical assistance on IT issues;
  •  Management and maintenance of operational hardware and software (IT infrastructure) to support work efficiency in coordination and at the branches;
  •  Maintaining compliance of the IT system with IT guidelines on IT security and data security (ISO);
  •  Role of the contact person with headquarters, IT coordinators, BRY and branches in the family of IT experts.





 

 

B. Attributions
1. IT infrastructure and tools (hardware, software and networks):
  •  Manage and ensure the general administration of the entire IT system;
  •  Ensure that sufficiently recent equipment (computers, satellite phones, copiers & printers) is available, in accordance with GIZ standards;
  •  Advisor during purchases, ensures the installation and maintenance of IT equipment (laptops, printers, scanners, computers) in accordance with GIZ standards;
  •  Ensure, in coordination with the IT expert at BRY, the implementation, maintenance and configuration of all standard applications and software used at GIZ (e.g. MS Office, WinPACCS, SAP, Onsite, MS Teams, etc.);
  •  Install and configure network equipment (copier & printer) in accordance with IT coordinators and headquarters IT;
  •  Monitor Internet connections used to ensure maximum availability;
  •  Manage the internet connection (checking that it is working properly, testing the bandwidth, contacting the service provider and acting as contact person during troubleshooting);
  • Technically manages video conferences and VoIP.
2. Computer security
  •  Monitor vulnerabilities in the communication networks used to prevent data leaks;
  •  Ensure regular updating of antivirus software and relevant operating system patches to ensure the security of the working environment;
  •  Ensure data backup to ensure full recovery;
  •  Responsible for the provision and maintenance of data backup programs and ensures system security and data confidentiality;
  • Ensure that antivirus software is regularly updated.
3. Operational and technical assistance
  •  Ensure maintenance of PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, photocopiers;
  •  Propose to management acquisitions to be made and improvements to be made to equipment and networks based on the guidelines/recommendations of the GIZ IT guide to ISO standards;
  •  Manage LAN & Wi-Fi (ensures proper functioning of the local network, installs updates as needed and ensures regular maintenance of the necessary equipment, installs/takes care of the local network (LAN) and maintains it;
  •  Liaise with suppliers to ensure the proper functioning of the network, telephone installation and computer equipment;
  •  Organize the elimination of breakdowns or problems affecting computers and Internet connections.

 


 

4. General tasks
  • Assist in managing the IT inventory;
  •  Recommend to the hierarchy the specifications of the IT equipment to be purchased following observation of the market in terms of the quality-price ratio;
  •  Introduce new colleagues to GIZ IT equipment, applications and standards and support the entire team in IT application matters and meet IT application training needs;
  •  Provide the “Help-Desk” function on site and inform the IT department at BRY in the event of major problems affecting GIZ IT applications;
  •  Ensure that on-site IT is up to date in accordance with GIZ IT guidelines;
  •  Ensure correct documentation of IT areas and application of the GIZ IT guide;
  • Ensure monitoring and verification of internet invoices;
  •  Perform other activities and tasks as directed by his/her superior.
  • Requirements
C. Qualifications, skills and experience required
  •  Qualification and professional experience Bac+ 4/5 in IT or comparable diploma;
  •  Certification in MS Windows Server / MS Office or equivalent experience;
  • Knowledge of servers running Windows 2016/2019;
  •  Knowledge of computer network systems, database management software and all MS Office applications;
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a similar position;
  •  Asset: Knowledge of management of GIZ specific software (WinPACCS, SAP, Onsite, MS Office 365, etc.).
Other knowledge/skills
  • Spirit of service and work ethic;
  • Be dynamic and have good organizational skills;
  •  Be able to work well in a team and be mobile for site visits;
  •  Excellent practical knowledge of the use of information and communication technologies (corresponding software as well as telephone, fax, e-mail, Internet) as well as computer applications (such as MS Office);
  • Good command of the English language.

Description

For the development of its activities, the Good Governance cluster is recruiting one (01) IT Assistant in Bafoussam.
A. Area of ​​responsibility
The post holder is responsible for the following activities:
  • Network management;
  •  Installation of software and maintenance of computers, printers, etc.
  • Training of project staff as needed;
  • Provide technical support to users;
  •  Support internet connection management;
  • Document network and system configurations;
  • Propose digital solutions, internally and with partners;
  •  Organize and carry out training courses according to the needs in the different projects;
  •  Provides support for system monitoring and data backup management;
  •   Perform other activities and tasks as directed by his/her superior.




Requirements
A. Qualifications, skills and experience required
  •  Diploma level BAC + 2/3 or higher in IT/Telecommunications or any other equivalent diploma;
  •  At least 2 years of professional experience in systems, networks and computer security;
  •  Proficiency in operating systems: Windows server 2016/2019 & Windows 10/11;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365;
  • Fluency in French and English, German will be an asset;
  • Good writing skills;
  • Good organizational, analytical and synthesis skills;
  •  Ability to work in a team and in a multicultural environment;
  • Sense of initiative and anticipation;
  •  Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
