APPLICATION FOR THE POSITION OF DOCTOR
IMC (International Medical Corps) Cameroon is seeking two Doctors for
its program to support Nigerian refugees and host populations settled in the
Far North region.

JOB SUMMARY
The Doctor is responsible for overall patient care, including promoting
patient health and safety by conducting thorough triage,
to a thorough history, physical examination, essential laboratory and radiological tests
, diagnosis, treatment and referral, and
education of patients and their caregivers.
To successfully perform this job, the individual must be able to perform each
essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.
A. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide high quality clinical care to patients based on history,
appropriate physical examination, available laboratory and imaging tests, and medication list
for the treatment of acute and chronic conditions.
Depending on the area of assignment, conduct daily patient rounds, initiate
case discussions, monitor and document patient progress and any
changes in management and prognosis, and ensure appropriate handover in the event
that physician responsibilities are transferred to an inpatient facility.
Indicate if further investigations and/or advanced care are required and initiate
the referral process.
Conduct regular case discussions as part of practical training. Identify gaps in staff training and provide didactic and/or practical
training as needed. Advocate with supervisors for any other necessary training of staff working within the team and provide training as needed. Use data collection tools provided and train other staff as needed. Collect and analyze medical service data to ensure quality patient care and services. Ensure that standard precautions of infection prevention and control (IPC) measures are always implemented and adhered to in accordance with the standards of the
Ministry of Health and international standards.
Where applicable, participate in a 24-hour health service delivery system at
the clinic, facility or hospital, depending on work schedules.
Adhere to international protocols and standards for patient assessment,
diagnosis and medical prescription of medications.
Manage and supervise other clinical staff as directed by the
supervisor; participate in the hiring process as necessary.
Provide health education to patients and community members regarding
their diagnoses, healthy diets, physical activity, hygiene promotion
and disease prevention (such as the need for vaccinations, smoking cessation, etc.)
Adhere to administrative guidelines regarding work schedules, record keeping
, patient communications, replenishment of
essential medications, consumables and other medical supplies.
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Immediately report any violations of the IMC Code of Conduct, including
patient protection.
Provide outreach health services as assigned by the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed herein
are representative of the nature and volume of the work assigned and are not
necessarily exhaustive.
B. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a medical degree (primary care physician) with a
valid license to practice and be board certified or equivalent (eligible
to the Board of Directors / National Order of Physicians).
Have more than two years of relevant clinical work, postgraduate medical experience after obtaining the medical degree, work in
low resource environments preferred.
Have experience in primary health care, maternal and child health
, reproductive health, communicable and non-
communicable diseases programs, as well as emergency and epidemic response is preferred.
Have previous NGO experience preferred
Have excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
in a fast-paced and pressured environment.
Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Have excellent self-motivation skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and excellent decision-making skills
.
Be extremely flexible and able to cope with stressful situations.
Ability to work effectively with
different personalities and cultures.
C. OTHER
Security:
Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies;
Ethical Conduct of IMC Personnel:
International Medical Corps maintains a Code of Standards of Conduct that governs the performance of its
employees engaged in the award and administration of contracts. No employee, officer or

donor funds if there is a real or apparent conflict of interest. Such a conflict arises when
the employee, officer or agent, an immediate family member, partner or organization
that employs or is about to employ any of the parties listed above, has a financial or
other interest in the company selected for the award. IMC officers, employees or agents
shall not solicit or accept gratuities, favors or anything of
monetary value from contractors or parties to subagreements. These standards provide for
disciplinary action in the event of violations of these standards by IMC officers, employees or agents.

Actively promote the “PSEA” (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within
International Medical Corps and among beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

As appropriate to the position, the candidate is expected to promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics
throughout the organization and maintain a clear understanding of and
adhere to International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards.
If in a supervisory position, exemplify ethical behavior through own
conduct and monitoring the work of others; ensure that those reporting to you have sufficient
knowledge and resources to follow the standards outlined in the Code of Conduct and Ethics;
monitor compliance of those you supervise; enforce the Code of Conduct and Ethics and
International Medical Corps policies, including the Safeguarding Policy and the Privacy Policy;
protection from harassment, bullying and sexual misconduct in the workplace, consistently
and fairly; supporting employees who, in good faith, raise issues or concerns
