The Cameroon Association for Social Marketing (ACMS) is seeking candidates for the positions of Medical Informatics Specialists (M/F) based in Ngaoundere and Garoua.
What are we recruiting?
The Medical Informatics Specialist will be responsible for the effective management and use of information systems to support healthcare delivery. He/she is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining health information systems, ensuring that patient and program data are securely stored, managed and accessed. The Medical Informatics Specialist will be required to identify areas for improvement in existing systems and develop new systems to meet changing demands. He/she will also be required to develop and implement data quality assurance plans and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. They will work under the supervision of the Senior Surveillance and Information System Manager with the following main responsibilities
Essential functions:
Design and develop customized applications to efficiently manage clinical data,

Create, implement and maintain standards for the management, storage and transmission of health information
Manage electronic and paper records, information and data. Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet administrative and clinical requirements;
Develop and implement data, reports, databases and data mining activities;
Provide specialized technical assistance to sub-grantee, district and CBO staff;
Oversee and perform database maintenance and updates as well as systems implementation work;
Create and maintain program databases, using SQL queries to extract and manipulate data as needed, using SQL Server;
Perform data integration and storage activities, including data mapping, data cleansing, data quality assurance, data testing and data migration; Perform data modeling and design and develop ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) applications;
Develop database solutions to extract, transform and load data,
Develop data queries, reports and dashboards Perform data transformation activities including data cleansing, data quality assurance, data testing and data migration;
Create, maintain and support data architecture and storage architecture; Perform data migration activities including data cleansing, data quality assurance, data testing and data migration; Manage data architecture, database development and administration
.
Qualifications and skills required:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Medical Informatics or Health Information Technology preferred, Master’s degree with specialization in Health Informatics preferred;
Minimum three (3) years of experience in a similar position in an NGO or health project;
Strong working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Electronic Medical Registry (EMR) systems, etc.
Knowledge of national standards and regulations governing health informatics,
Ability to use EMR/EMR data modeling systems to support tasks such as clinical documentation, performance measurement, regulatory reporting, and information security,
Familiarity with coding languages such as Java, C, Python, and SQL.
