Health and Nutrition Officer
Location: Bertoua, Kumbo, Garoua and Ngaoundere

Position Summary
Nascent is seeking qualified professionals to support the Health and Nutrition component of the
US Department of Agriculture Funded International Food for Education and Child Nutrition
Project. The incumbents will oversee all maternal and child nutrition (MCN), preventive health,
and WASH activities and promote the uptake of good health and dietary practices.

to enable vulnerable people, especially women and children in rural Africa, to develop skills for
self-sufficiency. The organization focuses on food security and nutrition, health, literacy and skills
development, and gender equity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific areas of responsibility include:
• Work closely with the Health and Nutrition Lead to provide input on nutrition/health and
hygiene training content and the training
• Assess learning needs to target beneficiaries, including pupils, teachers, PTA associations,
and Village Health Committees, on the use of good health and dietary practices
• Identify and train community health workers to support project activities
• Collaborate with other program staff to ensure optimal use of health and hygiene practices
• Train community health workers and target beneficiaries on the use of good nutrition and
health practices
• Create awareness of the importance of good nutrition practices on children and family
health
• Promote collaboration with regional and local health professionals and other local partners
• Monitor and nutrition activities and prepare monthly highlights
• Work with health authorities to ensure regular immunization of pupils in project
beneficiary school
Qualifications required
• A first degree or equivalent in Nutrition or Public Health.
• At least four (4) years of experience in nutrition and health interventions in the international
development environment.
Personal Skills
• Exceptional skills in capacity-building and training
• In-depth knowledge of nutrition and MCH issues
• Ability to travel at least 30% of the time
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
• Strong ability to think and plan strategically
• Self-motivated and organized
• Independent thinker, ability to identify potential problems and offer solutions
• Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is a prerequisite
