Background
Established in 1964, the International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint technical cooperation agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (WTO) responsible for promoting sustainable trade, particularly exports, from developing countries and economies in transition. ITC’s goal is to make businesses in developing countries more competitive in global markets, accelerate economic development, and contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access Programme (ATCMA) – Central Africa Component (ECCAS ATCMA) is a major initiative aimed at sustainably increasing intra-African trade and trade between Africa and the European Union (EU). Funded by the EU and implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), this four-year program aims to improve market access for specific value chains and increase the export competitiveness of SMEs in these sectors. It also seeks to reduce trade barriers, strengthen compliance with quality standards, and promote value addition and export diversification. By prioritizing women- and youth-led businesses, ATCMA aims to foster economic inclusion and encourage sustainable business practices. Expected results: Overall objective: Contribute to increasing sustainable intra-African and EU-Africa trade. Specific Objective 1: Improved market access for selected value chains Output 1.1. Market access barriers are identified and reduced Output 1.2. Compliance and quality standards are strengthened Output 1.3. A value chain review mechanism is established Specific Objective 2: Improved export competitiveness of SMEs in selected value chains Output 2.1. Strengthen value addition and diversification Output 2.2. Export capacities of enterprises are strengthened and business opportunities are realized.
The Programme covers the 11 countries of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), namely: Angola, Burundi, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Sao Tome and Principe.
A local office based in Yaoundé hosts the teams of professionals and support staff responsible for implementing the ECCAS ATCMA program. The ECCAS ATCMA team is led by a Regional Program Manager based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, directly assisted by an Administrative and Financial Assistant and a Technical Expert attached to the Yaoundé Office. In parallel, a ECCAS ATCMA Program Coordinator and a Services Coordinator based at ITC headquarters in Geneva act as liaison between the local office in Yaoundé, ITC technical experts, and support functions (legal, finance, procurement, communications, human resources). These coordinators also finalize the final reports.
It is within this framework that the ITC is seeking for this project, one (1) Driver to ensure the transport tasks linked to the implementation of the ATCMA-CEEAC Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
<Under the general supervision of the Regional Program Manager and under the direct supervision of the Administrative and Financial Assistant, the driver will assume the following responsibilities and functions:
Vehicle management
Ensure the cleanliness and regular maintenance of the vehicle made available to him (check the oil and water levels, the battery, the brakes, the tires, etc.);
Carry out minor repairs in the event of a vehicle breakdown;
Arrange for oil changes, tire and brake checks, vehicle cleaning and refer to the Regional Program Manager for any major vehicle repairs required;
Record official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil checks, lubrication, etc. in the appropriate documents and maintain the vehicle technical sheet;
Complete mileage, route, fuel consumption and oil change records;
Ensure the safety of the vehicle made available to him;
Ensure that all immediate arrangements are made in accordance with United Nations procedures in the event of an accident or involvement in an accident;
Ensure that all required documents and equipment for the vehicle are available and up to date (insurance policy, logbooks, office directory, city/country map, first aid kit, etc.).
Safe and reliable travel management
Carry out various field missions and service errands for the Local Office: transport of project members and materials, collection and distribution of mail and official documents, reception at the airport, purchases, etc.;
Welcome/drive project members, official staff and project delegations/visitors to the airport and, if necessary, facilitate visa and customs formalities (clearances) in close collaboration with the Administrative and Financial Assistant in Yaoundé;
Drive the Coordination vehicle for the travel of the regional program manager and his team;
Welcome and support ITC staff as well as international and national consultants;
Conduct field missions in accordance with the defined itinerary
Provide support in the preparation of field missions and periodic vehicle maintenance planning.
Be responsible for everything in the vehicle: on-board equipment, documents (registration document, insurance, temporary admission, and others);
Carry out any other tasks requested by the hierarchy in accordance with the needs of the ATCMA – CEEAC Program Coordination.
Divers
Provide logistical support for the organization of seminars/workshops relating to the activities of the ATCMA-CEEAC Program Office in close collaboration with the Administrative and Financial Assistant;
Carry out any other tasks assigned by supervisors

Required skills and experience
Education:
<Diploma of secondary education in general, technical or commercial education or equivalent with a valid driving license is required>
