Main objective and tasks      
The Security Officer is a member of the Logistic and security department and support the access and security processes in his/her covered area. The staff is responsible for the support in implementation of all the INTERSOS mission security and safety procedures, including the reporting and context analysis and for developing and maintaining appropriate and effective relationships with different partners.
The post is also responsible for routinely collaborating closely with local authorities on behalf of INTERSOS for security and access of the team and related administrative issues.
 

 



Access and security
• Ensure the implementation of access and security policies, protocols and procedures thus reducing the risks posed to the programs, personnel, and assets of INTERSOS.
• Establish and maintain an active information network, which includes INSO, NGOs, UN and other national and international security actors to obtain credible and relevant safety information. Liaison & co-ordination with Police, Security forces & other stakeholders as required.
• Provide INTERSOS mission in the Northwest with timely and credible security information and support context and situation analysis of the local security situation through daily incident alerts, weekly incident lists and biweekly analytical reports.
• Conducts security risk assessments and risk analysis and advice on security and safety measure and access to areas INTERSOS operates.

 




    Staff safety
• Ensures that all INTERSOS staff understand the individual responsibilities and
• collective safety and security.
• Conduct pre-deployment trainings/briefings to all team members prior to each field mission. Carry out periodic follow-up security trainings for staff at the field level.
• Based on the country Risk management policies, ensure the team is fully equipped for the mission.
• Monitor staff movement and tracking systems while maintaining operational security. areas of Security Management requiring external support
• Provide assistance in the conduct and follow up of investigations and affecting INTERSOS staffs and offices

Educational and professional experience required
• University degree in a related specialization law, developments and international Identify security or relevant field is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a humanitarian context, in an association, NGO or INGO
• At least two years of experience in a similar position
• Proven experience with an INGO or NGO
• Knowledge and experience working with authorities and external partners
• At least 1 year of field work experience in the NW or SW context during the crisis

• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, outlook),
• Mainstream web browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge,
Mozilla Firefox)
• Web-based mainstream chat and conferencing tools/platforms
(Skype, Teams, Zoom and WebEx)
• Web 2.0 tools (cloud storage, webmail and others)
• Strong editorial skills
• Adaptability and readiness to carry out numerous field trips
• Analytical and reporting skills
• Capacity to work under pressure, flexibility
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Languages
​​• Fluency in both written and oral formal English
• Good redactional skills
• Fluency in Pidgin English
