Missions and Responsibilities General Objective
 

The Social Cohesion Officer is responsible for the technical supervision and coordination of all activities related to social cohesion under the supervision of the project manager / program manager / base manager. He or she will ensure that the training needs of the beneficiaries on the themes of social cohesion, in particular conflict management, the field are dealt with in a timely manner and that the services and activities of social cohesion meet the standards of industry quality.



Responsibilities


▪ Organize and direct the implementation of all social cohesion activities.
▪ Ensure capacity building of community mobilizers and partners on social cohesion.
▪ Provide technical guidance and support to social cohesion staff, ensuring the quality of the implementation of activities and services, as well as compliance with social cohesion standards.
▪ In collaboration with the project manager, define the criteria for the identification of formal or informal conflict management structures in the project intervention areas, supervise the process of mapping these structures, assess their strengths and weaknesses and establish a database on these structures.
▪ Organize and supervise training workshops on conflict prevention and resolution for severed structures and guarantee the quality of these trainings.




▪ Organize and oversee awareness campaigns on social cohesion to sensitize community members on the devastating effects of violence and systemic discrimination.
▪ Produce content and interview guides and awareness topics to be developed by community mobilizers and social cohesion structures selected during focus group sessions or educational talks.
▪ In collaboration with the project manager, define the selection criteria for the social cohesion activities financed by the project, supervise the monitoring and evaluation of these activities, guarantee the quality of the interventions.
▪ Regularly check the status of the database of social cohesion initiatives, conduct reviews and provide feedback to community mobilizers and partners.
▪ Organize regular meetings with community mobilizers and partners to discuss complex cases and general issues related to their tasks.
▪ Carry out regular audits to ensure that social cohesion interventions are and remain compliant with established Standard Operating Procedures and minimum social cohesion standards.
▪ Organize regular meetings with colleagues related to social cohesion monitoring to discuss general challenges related to their tasks and the identification of protection cases
▪ Review data and information collected during social cohesion monitoring and compile regular reports highlighting gaps, concerns and trends to inform future programming.
▪ Provide guidance to community mobilizers and social workers in the planning and implementation of participatory community activities, awareness sessions and campaigns and in general communication with communities.
▪ Identify capacity building needs of social cohesion staff assess their knowledge and skills and, accordingly, provide learning opportunities through trainings, workshops and/or simulation exercises.
▪ Assist Project Manager / Program Manager / Head of Base in developing required donor reports, providing relevant information on protection related issues
▪ Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant partners and other parties project stakeholders working in the project areas
▪ At the request of the supervisor, proactively participate in relevant coordination meetings

Perform soundly and professionally any other tasks as requested by the supervisor or the INTERSOS organization.



Job requirements     
Education • BAC + 4 in social sciences or a related field.
Experience • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in the social cohesion sector (including at least 1 year as a supervisor)

• Previous experience with an NGO would be an asset
Language •
• Fluency in French (written and spoken).
Mastery of at least one local language of Logone and Chari
• Knowledge of Italian would be an asset
