For one of our program offices based in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Junior Accountant to contribute to the goal of its Jengi TRIDOM program.

Field of action : Landscape TRIDOM
Duration : 2 years (renewable)

Mission of the Department:

In the spirit of excellence, integrity and dedication, the Finance Department is committed to providing timely, accurate, clear and complete information, and to supporting the overall objectives of the Conservation Department to be achieved by the Cameroon Country Program Office (CCPO).

Main functions:

The employee is responsible for providing financial and operational support to the program by facilitating timely requests for funds. Primarily performs general accounting functions, encoding Oracle Light AP transactions, analyzing staff and partner advances, paying staff and third parties, maintaining subsidiary accounting records, completing supporting documents and financial reports, and providing assistance on other accounting and administrative functions.




Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Primarily performs general accounting functions, encoding Oracle Light AP transactions, analyzing staff and partner advances;
  • Process payments to staff and third parties in accordance with WWF procedures;
  • Maintain the accounting records of subsidiaries; Appropriate control of various financial records such as commitments and expenditures against budgeted amounts; Initiate actions related to: general financial information, travel payments, expense reports, and procurement transactions;
  • Prepare financial reports and provide assistance with other accounting and administrative functions;
  • Participates in the program budgeting process and ensures that operational plans are in line with approved budgets;
  • Review programme work/budget plans and keep records of budget and budget changes on file;
  • Provide support to the Administrator Program to ensure that appropriate financial control processes, procedures and systems are in place and adhered to within the TRIDOM office
  • Verify the accuracy and compliance of suppliers’ complaints with WWF financial rules and regulations;
  • Perform claims checks against documentation to ensure that purchases/services are properly authorized and that goods have been received or services rendered, and ensure timely recording and processing of vendor invoices in Oracle;
  • Process payments to staff and third parties in accordance with WWF procedures;
  • Maintain the accounting records of subsidiaries; Appropriate control of various financial records such as commitments and expenditures against budgeted amounts; Initiate actions related to: general financial information, travel payments, expense reports, and procurement transactions;
  • Prepare financial reports and provide assistance with other accounting and administrative functions;
  • Participates in the program budgeting process and ensures that operational plans are in line with approved budgets;

  • Provide support to the Administrator Program to ensure that appropriate financial control processes, procedures and systems are in place and adhered to within the TRIDOM office
  • Verify the accuracy and compliance of suppliers’ complaints with WWF financial rules and regulations;
  • Perform verification of claims against documentation to ensure that purchases/services are properly authorized and that goods have been received or services rendered; and ensure timely recording and processing of vendor invoices in Oracle.
  • Maintain the program asset register and reconcile the register with the GL on a monthly basis.
  • Provide support to Programme Administrator to ensure that appropriate financial control processes, procedures and systems are in place and adhered to in the TRIDOM office. Follow the audit actions related to finances for TRIDOM.
  • Assist Programme Administrator in identifying and mitigating risks within the TRIDOM office.
  • Monitoring generator operating hours as well as fuel consumption, etc.) ;
  • Monitor fuel consumption, lubricants and spare parts according to WWF standards and provide vehicle statistics monthly.

 

What you need:

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or a related field and/or a professional accounting qualification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA) would be an asset;
  • At least three (3) years of progressive professional experience in financial accounting, preferably in an international organization (NGO or company).

Required skills and competencies

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, especially an advanced level of MS Excel is required; Database software, web-based system and experience in using an ERP system are highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical thinking.
  • Ability to understand and apply guidelines
