CONTEXT
IUCN is a world leader in developing knowledge and understanding effective action for conservation. It brings together member states, government agencies and NGOs, and some 10,000 scientists and experts from 181 countries in a unique global partnership, intended to provide a neutral forum for dialogue on issues related to the environment and sustainable development.
The IUCN office in Cameroon is part of the Central and West Africa Programme, headquartered in Dakar, Senegal. It works in close collaboration with several strategic partners, including members of the Union.
The IUCN Office in Cameroon has been implementing many initiatives for several years related to the conservation of biodiversity, protected areas, the fight against climate change, etc. It is in this sense that IUCN, with the support of the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED), is committed to the implementation of the Project “Increasing the Resilience of Communities to climate change through youth entrepreneurship and integrated natural resource management (ACREGIR)”.
JOB DESCRIPTION
In order to ensure the effective implementation by IUCN of the contractual agreements relating to the abbreviated “ACREGIR” project, a driver is required to assume the responsibilities and tasks below.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: The driver will assume the following responsibilities and tasks:
- Drive project vehicles;
- Ensure that the administrative documents of the vehicles are well kept and up to date;
- Fill in the logbooks (outings and interviews);
- Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of the vehicle;
- Ensure that major repairs are carried out by a professional and ensure their follow-up;
- Apply the administrative procedures governing the use of vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Minimum Qualifications Required
- Holder of a valid driving license of categories B and D. License all desirable categories;
- Solid experience in driving 4×4 vehicles;

- Have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position;
- Very good theoretical and practical knowledge of automotive mechanics;
- Working knowledge of French, and Fulfulde desired.
- Other criteria
Very good physical condition;
- Available for frequent trips.
