Position: Associate Database Manager

Direct report: Senior Technical Research Officer, Database Manager, Study Coordinator, Study Monitors

Term of Offer: This position is remunerated as a local contract

Duration of the Contract: 06 months (renewable)

 The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric HIV Foundation (EGPAF) is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV, working in 15 countries, and more than 5,500 cities around the world to prevent the transmission of HIV to children, and caring for those already infected. Through the successful efforts of the foundation and its partners, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States. The foundation has over 1,000 employees plus 90% of whom are in the field. The overall goal of the foundation is to eliminate pediatric HIV/AIDS by implementing programs for prevention, care, treatment, and the promotion of innovative research.

 




 

 

job summary

The Associate Database Manager will be supervised by the Director of Public Health Evaluation and Research and will receive technical supervision from the Principal Technical Research Officers. The Associate Database Manager will support the Database Manager in data processing (entry, cleaning, management) and data analysis of research projects in Cameroon. He/she will oversee project databases, verify data and ensure quality by generating error listings and sending data correction requests. He/she will report to the Principal Investigators and work closely with the Study Coordinators, Study Monitors and Research Assistants.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

Ø Conduct an assessment of the quality of data in the study databases and generate daily error listings.

Ø Produce and send data correction requests for each site and oversee the data correction process.

Ø Ensure that all study data management activities are conducted in accordance with applicable national and international regulatory requirements and EGPAF standards.

Ø Communicate and collaborate with other members of the research team to ensure consistency of statistical approaches from study to study and country to country.

Ø Contribute, as needed, to the management of data for other research project protocols carried out by the foundation.

Ø Perform planned statistical analyzes for data presentations and scientific reports related to the study (progress reports, abstracts, news letter).

Qualifications required

ü Have a Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or any other relevant field

ü Justify solid knowledge in public health or in a relevant field.

ü Have good knowledge and understanding of research on human subjects and good clinical practices in research.

ü Experience in clinical or operational research as a data manager or as a data manager will be highly appreciated.

ü Experience in software management and electronic data collection platform will be highly appreciated.

ü Have a good knowledge of statistical analysis software (Stata, SPSS, SAS, R). An excellent command of at least one is mandatory.

ü Experience in monitoring and managing clinical and operational research data will be highly appreciated.

ü Have excellent teamwork skills.

ü Have good oral and written communication skills as well as a professional command of English and French.
