v   INTRODUCTION

Medical humanitarian non-governmental organization (NGO) governed by Swiss law, Médecins du Monde Suisse (MdM-CH) works in the field to restore sustainable access to healthcare for excluded people. It has been present in Cameroon since 2013 and implements several projects, around three (03) main thematic axes: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Prevention and Management of Violence and Pediatric Palliative Care.

As part of the implementation of its interventions, MdM-CH is recruiting a Driver for its interventions in Malentouen, a locality located in the Noun Department, in the West Cameroon region.

 

 

1-      JOB DESCRIPTION 

Under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant Accountant and Logistics Support, the Driver will be responsible for carrying out the following responsibilities and tasks:

  1.  TRANSPORT OF PEOPLE AND GOODS

v Ensures the transport of people and goods according to the safety rules in force at MdM

v  Is responsible for the load it carries: loads the vehicle while respecting the payload of the vehicle; unloads his vehicle himself and ensures that the load is properly secured;

v  Checks with the recipient the condition of the materials delivered and returns the receipt slip duly completed and signed to his supervisor

 

 

  1.  TRAVEL MANAGEMENT

v  Ensures the safety of passengers, at the same time his own by strict compliance with the safety rules and highway code in force in the country

v  Adapts its speed according to the state of the road or track, its load and when approaching busy and inhabited areas

v  Respects and enforces safety instructions when traveling;

v  Systematically informs the base of his movements both on departure and on arrival,

v  Is responsible for safety decisions within the vehicle (decision making in case of problems on the routes taken) . Any detour from the planned route or unplanned stop must be justified;

v  Enforces the number of people authorized and to be transported in the vehicle;

v  Helps people being transported to get in and out of the vehicle, when they are physically unable to do so by themselves;

  1.  VEHICLE MANAGEMENT

 

v  Performs daily and weekly checks on the functionality of the vehicle;

v  Notifies the manager sufficiently in advance of the imminence of maintenance on his vehicle, in order to plan the temporary immobilization of the vehicle;

v  Maintains the vehicle in a state of cleanliness for the interior, exterior and engine parts;

v    Regularly checks the good condition of the equipment: spare wheel, jack, straps, ropes, small tools, etc.;

v  In the event of an accident or incident on the vehicle, notify their supervisor without delay;

v  Performs a correct delivery and recovery in the event of use of the vehicle by another driver;

v  Correctly completes the fuel supply sheets and must be able to justify his fuel consumption at all times

  1.  OTHER ACTIVITIES  

 

v  Performs various errands at the request of the hierarchy: mail drop, parcel pick-up, small purchases and any other task assigned by his supervisor;

v  On request, the Driver provides support for supply processes

v  On request, the Driver provides support in relations with certain suppliers (payment of invoices, monitoring of maintenance missions, etc.)

v  On request, support for reprography

2-       SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

2.1 Education

–       Minimum BEPC (first cycle study certificate)

–       Category B driving license

2.2 Professional experience

Ø  Required

At         least (01) Year in a Driver position within an international organization

Ø  Assets

Good         knowledge of the Noun department and the local language

Good         knowledge of generic security rules

2.3 General and specific skills

Sense         of responsibility

  • Reliable and autonomous

Have         a good vision

Driving         very responsibly and defensively

  • Attentive and discreet
  • Hardworking and motivated

3-       CONSTITUTION OF THE APPLICATION FILE

A         letter of motivation addressed to the General Coordinator of Médecins du Monde-Switzerland,

  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae

A         copy of the BEPC

  • Proof of previous professional experience (work certificates, employment contract, certificate of end of contract, etc.)
  • Three reference persons, including at least one from the last position held (surname, first name, functions, e-mail address and functional telephone number)

 NB: legalized copies of the national identity card, diplomas, certificates as well as an extract from the criminal record and a medical certificate dating from less than three (03) months will be requested from the successful candidate.
