Main objective
and tasks
• Support UNHCR and Intersos in analyzing the results of the Data Collection
through the Shelter/NFI Severity Tool and advising on final beneficiary selection
for the NFI, rental assistance, and repair activities
• Support in liaison with relevant stakeholders including local authorities,
beneficiary community leaders, Shelter Cluster partners to ensure that the
beneficiary selection criteria is well understood and that the purpose of the NFI
and Shelter support is well understood by beneficiaries before proceeding with
assistance.

 

 

 

• Prepare Bill of Quantities and Scope of Works for all beneficiaries that will be
receiving support with repairing their shelter
• Provide support in the management of all repair and rehabilitation activities
related with Shelter and Infrastructure as required by the project
• Ensure that all repair and construction work required by the project are technically
sound between tranches for repairs, supplemented with accurate drawings,
detailed BoQs and specifications and implemented according to plans, completed
within designated timelines, budget, and ensure that this information is shared
with relevant stakeholders to the project.
• Work closely with other partners in relevant sectors such as WASH, education
and health so that shelter and infrastructure implementation is synchronized and
coordinated

 

 

• Participate actively in the Shelter Cluster for the NWSW crisis and ensure that
updates on the program activities are regularly communicated with the Shelter
Cluster team and its partners including lessons learned
• Monitor the outcome of those who have received cash in order to be able to report
on how beneficiaries have used the cash in improving their living conditions and
shelter conditions, using both the Shelter Cluster 5W and the Shelter Cluster and
UNHCR’s Post Distribution Monitoring form for shelter.
Educational and
professional
experience
required
• Bachelor degree in Architecture is preferred, but Civil Engineering is acceptable
• Minimum 2 years in an architectural-related field
Technical and
behavioral
competencies
required
Essential:
• Ability to use basic survey equipment, digital cameras, and computer equipment.
• Experience in developing shelter and settlement need assessments and undertaking
gap analysis for development of shelter programs.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of Shelter Sphere Standards in humanitarian contexts;
• Knowledge of a range of shelter assistance options, including sensitivity to cultural
and gender specific needs to ensure that the social and cultural background of
affected people is considered while designing and developing shelter options.
• Knowledge of computer graphics, AutoCAD and mapping software as well as the
ability to use mapping tools (GPS), and digital photographic equipment, and
related software (map info etc.).

Languages ​​• Fluency in both written and oral formal English
• Strong redactional skills in English
• Capacity to make strong oral and written presentations and to express and
elaborate on ideas.
• Skills in establishing and maintaining good relationships with donors and
colleagues.
• Fluency in Pidgin English
• Knowledge of French is desirable
