THE NATIONAL PROGRAM CONTEXT:

International Medical Corps has been present in Cameroon since 2008 to provide assistance to the thousands of Central African refugees who have crossed the border and taken refuge in Cameroon following the political and social unrest that has taken place in CAR since 2005. International Medical Corps provides care essential health and nutrition services to more than 75,000 Nigerian refugees in Minawao refugee camp in the Far North region, according to the latest data from UNHCR and its partners.
Missions and responsibilities
Primary objective
In close collaboration with the project team, the social worker contributes under the responsibility of the protection supervisor, to ensure the technical supervision of the project activities, in particular: sensitization, recording and documentation of cases of complaints, cases of survivors GBV, community engagement and animation of community protection structures. He/she provides daily technical support and coaching to community relays and various structures. It also has a duty to monitor and ensure the proper functioning of community complaints mechanisms established in the community.
Responsibilities
Specific tasks:
Involve the community in all interventions,
Ensure that all home visits and case documentation are documented in appropriate case management files or tools and maintain orderly filing, transparent and accessible to management.
Manage and assist cases of GBV survivors in the area of intervention, in particular in charge of psychosocial cases.
Provide comprehensive psychosocial counseling to GBV survivors focusing on the survivor-centered case management approach
Provide individual and group level assessment and guidance as appropriate to the situation.
Document beneficiary data accurately using all standard GBV forms and ensure they are kept in appropriate locations that only authorized persons can access.
Maintain and strengthen existing networks with other service providers, to ensure that GBV survivors receive quality services and support.
Attend job-relevant training forums.
• Responsible for directing beneficiaries to the relevant service provider using the referral pathway and inter-agency referral form.
• Educate GBV survivors by conducting awareness sessions on how GBV survivors are affected by traditional cultural practices and always prepare a topic for their session and inform their manager before leading.
• Do not share any information about GBV survivors with other service providers or others without permission from her supervisor and keep the case confidential.
• Provide technical support to local and community organizations to prevent and respond to GBV under the leadership of MINPROFF & MINAS in its locality.
• Strengthen the capacities of community structures dedicated to the community approach through coaching sessions,
• Ensure the regular collection of all data identified and recorded in the program database in collaboration with the supervisor and the MEAL team
• Send all required documents on time to his supervisor.
• Support the program team as needed as well as the supervisor and project manager for any support necessary for the smooth running of activities, including community activities, trainings and international events:
Monitoring and Reporting:
Ensure the collection of accurate data on field activities by community protection committees, community organizations, CPFF community listening centers, CMPJ, CSOs, LPC, WGSS and identified women’s associations
Compile data and submit weekly narrative and statistical reports to the Protection Supervisor;
Be flexible to perform other duties as requested by the Protection Supervisor.
Supply:
Work closely with the Protection Supervisor to prepare the purchase requisition;
Work closely with the Protection Supervisor, Community Protection Committees and Logistics to identify supplies, materials and equipment needed to implement activities;
Ensure the distribution of materials and equipment to beneficiaries in the field in accordance with the IMC code of conduct.
Representation and coordination:
With the support of the Protection Supervisor, promote and manage positive relationships with local administrative authorities, other partners, service providers and beneficiaries.
2. Education/Training, experience and skills
Education :
• University level (Bac+3) Sociology, Gender, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study, or equivalent experience
Experience :
• Two years of experience in designing and implementing GBV programs, particularly with refugees.
• Relevant experience in the field is strongly preferred
• Knowledge of standards and guidelines for GBV programming as well as guidance on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA)
• Knowledge of international humanitarian operations
Skills :
• Good knowledge of transversal protection
• Good knowledge in the field of participatory development approaches
• Good knowledge of plant and animal production
• Skills / Attitudes:
o Great capacity for human contact, diplomacy, self-control, interest in cultural differences, availability, flexibility, ability and motivation to work in a team, ability to manage stress and live in an isolated context, diligence, tenacity , determination, integrity, adaptability, sense of initiative, ease of communication, sense of responsibility, respect for the framework and teamwork.
o Autonomy, initiative and knowledge of the field of intervention
Language:
• Proficiency in the local language,
• Fluency in French and English (written and spoken)
3. Others:
- Security :
– Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies;
– Consider the security implications of all program activities, reviewing all new initiatives with other staff, community leaders and volunteers.
- Compliance and Ethics:
– Promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics within International Medical Corps. To the extent applicable to the position, the candidate should fully understand and adhere to International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards.
– Performs work with the highest level of integrity.
– Communicate these standards to staff, where appropriate, and partners and require them to adhere to these values.

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and among beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
