The World Wide Fund for Nature is seeking a ‘TRIDOM Senior Climate
Finance Adviser’ for its office in the Republic of Congo

dynamic and committed ”TRIDOM Senior Climate Finance Adviser”.

Duration: Two (02) years, renewable depending on the availability of funding

independent conservation organizations in the world. An international NGO committed to
environmental protection and active in nearly 100 countries, WWF operates in the Basin.

Central Africa. TRIDOM is sparsely populated, with an estimated population of 250,000, and
is of great importance to the indigenous Baka people.
The World Wide Fund for Nature is looking for a ‘TRIDOM Senior Climate
Finance Adviser” for its office in the Republic of CongoCarbon stocks in TRIDOM are very high and part of Congo’s peatlands
are in TRIDOM. WWF’s 2030 vision for the
TRIDOM transboundary tropical forest landscape is “to provide secure habitat for healthy populations of
forest elephants and great apes and rich biodiversity, supported by
self-reliant local communities, while by contributing to the sustainable economic development aspirations
of Cameroon, Gabon and the Republic of Congo.
To realize these two visions, it is essential to ensure that financial flows across the
landscape support sustainable activities and to generate new financing for
achieve conservation objectives. There is currently rapid growth in financing flows
and carbon and climate financing opportunities for the
Congo Basin. WWF is seeking a TRIDOM Senior Climate Finance Adviser to
lead WWF’s engagement with these international financing entities to
complement WWF’s already existing capacity for engagement with
national governments and stakeholders.
This position works with WWF offices in Cameroon, Gabon and Congo. WWF
Netherlands will act as the main funder, while specialist consultants
and the wider WWF network will provide technical support. The job holder
will engage with WWF partners, investors, donors,
financial institutions, agricultural and forestry product manufacturers and traders,
sustainable finance platforms, industry advisory groups, consultants, governments
and vocational organizations scientist.
Primary Functions:
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The TRIDOM Senior Climate Finance Adviser will lead the TRIDOM Climate Finance team’s engagement
with international financing entities and, in
collaboration with the TRIDOM Landscape Finance Manager , will attract
large-scale carbon and climate investments from
public and private sources across the TRIDOM landscape to achieve the key
conservation outcomes of the TRIDOM Conservation Plan.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
The ”TRIDOM Senior Climate Finance Adviser” will be responsible for implementing elements
of the TRIDOM landscape finance strategy as follows:
 Support the TRIDOM team to capitalize on the growing field funding streams
and opportunities, for carbon and climate financing and
the allocation of biodiversity credits for the Congo Basin through training of
WWF staff and partners.
 Create an overview of carbon stocks and flows across the TRIDOM landscape.
 Create an overview of carbon finance and
biodiversity credit certification schemes and their compliance with WWF standards and policies.
 Liaise with the WWF network on strategies and principles for engaging
with climate and carbon finance and biodiversity credit entities.
 Analyze and keep abreast of relevant
carbon market standards and methodologies, as well as trends in carbon markets, as well as
emerging standards, methodologies and trends relating to carbon crediting frameworks.

the sustainable production of commodities in the TRIDOM zone, in accordance with the
corresponding certification systems.
 Analyze opportunities to mobilize private sector subsidies in the
TRIDOM zone, particularly in the context of companies’ CSR commitments.
 Identify and help structure concrete opportunities and partnerships to mobilize
private sector investments for WWF conservation priorities in
TRIDOM through carbon markets, biodiversity credit frameworks,
impact investments and the CSR commitment of companies.
 Establish and maintain a database of potential
carbon and biodiversity investors and entities.
 Support the TRIDOM team to capitalize on funding and partnership opportunities
through program development.
 Provide advice and mentoring to WWF colleagues in the Congo Basin Landscape Finance team
regarding carbon accounting and allocation
of biodiversity credits.
 Prepare and produce similar project design and project proposal documents , consisting of the selection of an appropriate methodology and the calculation of emissions
reductions over the duration of individual projects.

 Prepare position papers on carbon policies affecting
Congo Basin countries.
 Contribute to communications on carbon and biodiversity financing in
TRIDOM.
 All other tasks assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
Required Qualifications:
 At least a Master’s degree or equivalent degree in natural resource management,
forestry, agriculture or a related field.
 At least five (05) years of experience in the field of climate financing, conservation
and financing of forests and biodiversity, management of
natural resources, forests or agriculture, ideally in Central Africa.
 Skilled communicator (fluent in English and French).
 Ability to analyze and prioritize information and work across
disciplines.
 Strong MS Office skills including Word and Excel.
 Ability to inspire confidence in people at all hierarchical levels.
 Enthusiastic team player, with experience working collaboratively.
Required skills and competencies:
 Skills in economic analysis and, ideally,
carbon emissions analysis, climate finance, business plan development, etc.
 Proven experience in developing, financing, implementing and monitoring
climate change mitigation projects.
 Proven experience in writing winning concepts and proposals.
 Ability and proven experience in establishing contacts and maintaining relationships with partners and donors
.  Interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple teams
spread across multiple locations (virtual teams).
 Proven experience in fundraising and fundraising.
 Oral and written communication and presentation skills in French
and English.
 Excellent negotiation, diplomacy and lobbying skills.
