INTERNSHIP OFFER #MondeEnCommun Intern in the Rural and Environmental Sector Division French Development Agency
CONTEXT The French Development Agency (AFD), a French public institution founded more than 80 years ago, supports economic, social and sustainable development in the countries where it operates. You will join the team of the Rural Sector and Environment division at the Yaoundé Agency in Cameroon. This
division is in charge of AFD’s project portfolio in Cameroon in the following sectors:
Agriculture, Forestry, Climate, Biodiversity and Environment.
MISSION AND ACTIVITIES OF THE INTERN
As an intern in AFD’s Rural Sector and Environment division, you will provide
essential support to AFD’s agricultural and environmental projects in Cameroon. Your tasks will
focus on collecting key information and producing analytical documents. This mission
will allow you to strengthen your skills in project management and rural development while by participating in high-impact projects for Central Africa.
Specific missions:
Mapping of key stakeholders: Identify and list donors and
implementing operators/companies operating in
priority agricultural sectors, particularly in the cocoa and palm oil sectors, in order to establish an overview
of the financing and initiatives in place.
Update of key contacts: Update and organize the list of contacts/focal points with
sectoral Ministries, as well as within partner organizations and
Technical and Financial Partners (TFPs) in Cameroon.
Trade analysis: Identify imported agricultural products linked to
local Cameroonian production and assess the production gap and the country’s potential to
cover this gap in light of the national strategy implemented.
Compliance with international trade agreements: Identify/list initiatives to
bring export agricultural products into line with the requirements of major
international markets, in particular the RDUE (European regulation against deforestation and
forest degradation).
Decentralization law: Note the implications of the decentralization law on
the organization of the ministries of agriculture, livestock and forestry, in particular the
missions of the ministries concerned which are assigned to the CTDs.
PROFILE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Training: Bac +3 minimum in agroeconomics, agriculture, environmental economy,
rural development or in a related field;
Experience: 0-2 years of professional experience;
Interest: A strong interest in development issues, particularly in
the agricultural and environmental sectors;
Technical skills: Mastery of office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
essential; mastery of mapping software is an asset;
Interpersonal skills: Great autonomy, initiative and ability to work
in a team;
Linguistics: Excellent command of French (written and oral).
CONDITIONS
Duration: 6 months, from Thursday January 2, 2025 to Monday June 30, 2025.
