For our Ngoyla office, we are looking for a Junior Biologist (JB)-Ngoyla to support the WWF/Jengi-TRIDOM program.

Mission of the department:
The mission of WWF CCPO is to ensure the sustainable management of natural resources in the South-East of Cameroon through participatory management practices involving all stakeholders and contributes to the improvement of the living conditions of local populations. This includes (1) the negotiation of a macro-zoning plan (with protected area, forestry and hunting concessions, agroforestry zone,…. ), (2) the development of basic infrastructure and the preparation of plans for three protected areas (Lobeke, Boumba Bek and Nki) which cover 6,380 km2 of dense moist evergreen and semi-deciduous forest of biological importance, with high densities of elephants, western lowland gorillas, chimpanzees and bongos,
Main duties :
The JB is responsible for the overall day-to-day implementation of the agreed ecological monitoring activities in the NKI National Park, Ngoyla Wildlife Reserve, UTO Ngoyla-Mintom and the TRIDOM Cameroon interzone. In this respect, he works under the direct technical supervision of the Program Implementer of the Jengi-TRIDOM program. He must also be responsible for all project equipment made available to him for the execution of field activities. In general, he assists Program Executant and Park Assistant of the PNBB in the implementation of conservation activities in the National Parks of Nki and Boumba-bek.
Main tasks :
• Ensure the implementation of the continuous ecological monitoring system (Nki National Park, Ngoyla Wildlife Reserve, UTO Ngoyla-Mintom) and its outskirts, with data collection and management following the relevant scientific protocols;
• Work within the framework of the Jengi Tridom project in the development and production of biological statistics, maps and related documents to support the project;
• Work closely with local MINFOF, NGOs and project staff to identify their technical and practical training needs on navigation tools (GPS, maps, compasses, Blackview, etc);
• Work closely with the MINFOF focal point and assist in training and skills development in biomonitoring data collection and analysis in the field and train/build capacity on SMART software, CAMELOT and the
GIS;
• Participate in the collection of data on human-wildlife conflicts to update the database of the Jengi TRIDOM program;
• Organize and manage the appropriate use of the program database and related tools and ensure adequate storage of information on computers;
• Produce concise and well-written field reports on a regular basis to ensure that PE and other WWF members are well informed of program activities.
Candidate profile:
Functional skills required
• Hold at least a license or an engineering diploma in one or more of the following fields: Forestry and wildlife, Rural geography, Eco-tourism, or any other related specialization;
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: (1) management of forest and wildlife resources, (2) rural, community and organizational development;
• Good overview of the legal and institutional framework in the field of forest and wildlife resource management in Cameroon;
• Demonstrated knowledge of the use of GPS and GIS software, Cybertracker/SMART and related tools;
• Good knowledge of the use of camera traps, wildlife observation and photo analysis;
• Demonstrated skills in the use of camera traps to provide ecotourism advice;
• Proven skills in statistics and data analysis (Excel, other relevant software);
• Ability to manage databases; experience managing files on Google Drive;
• Computer literacy, knowledge of data analysis software;
• Excellent written skills; • Fluency in French and/or English; Required Skills and Competencies
• Communication skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders, including protected area managers, local communities, traditional authorities. The ability to communicate transparently and respectfully, focusing on well-defined objectives, is essential;
• Willingness and ability to work in a remote area with little supervision;
• Good skills – written and oral (French and English);
• Good computer skills (MS Office package, online research, etc.), computer skills will be an asset;
• Cultural awareness and ability to work effectively in diverse cultural environments;

internally
Collaborate with other key program technical staff such as CMO and Park Assistant and BFT, Program Administrative and Finance Officer and Accountant.
Externally
Work closely/collaborate with MINFOF and MINEPDED services in South East Cameroon. It should collaborate with local NGOs and local community associations.
