Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundationis a world leader in the fight against HIV and AIDS in children. Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Information Technology Manager (IT Manager), the IT Assistant will assist the IT Manager and IT Manager in performing the following tasks:

- Technical support: All areas of communication and information technology at EGPAF Cameroon.
- Support to the IT Manager (backup role)
- Technical Support: Assist in the maintenance of equipment, including hardware, software and systems.
- Network Administration (Equipment and Applications): Diagnose network and system problems and respond to outages and errors to maintain system integrity and performance.
- Respond to helpdesk calls.
- Contribute to network and system security.
- Perform other related duties as required. (For example, monitoring the implementation of policies and procedures).
Responsibilities & Defined Tasks:
Help Desk.
- Be the main point of contact for helpdesk calls.
- Diagnose problems and react accordingly.
- Tell users the appropriate action when possible or take notes and research a solution.
- Get back to users with a solution or refer it to the IT manager.
Maintain equipment.
- Repair of laptops, PCs, printers, etc. (with supplier warranty / outsourced technical assistance).
- Reformatting and rebuilding laptops, etc.
- Inventory and maintain sufficient levels of equipment as required.
- Distribute equipment to branches as needed.
Maintain the system.
- Assist the IT Manager and IT Officers in maintaining system performance and reacting to known issues, as well as performing preventive maintenance.
- Assist in the deployment and upgrade of new technologies.
- Assist in the administration of users and computers.
- Assist in the maintenance and implementation of third-party software.
- Liaise with third party support services to diagnose issues.
- Assist in the maintenance of Windows and email systems.
Backup .
- Confirm success of daily backups.
- Confirm that all backup systems are running daily.
- Liaise with 3rd party helpdesk in case of issues.
Anti-Virus & Security
- Maintain network and system security with network antivirus.
- Configure and manage network security.
- Assist users with installation and ongoing support.
Network diagnostics and reports
- Diagnose network bottlenecks.
- Monitor the organization’s extended network.
- Liaise with local office regarding network outages or reports.
- Record failures with the competent authority.
- Liaise with the IT Manager regarding outages.
The telephone system.
- Ensure the optimal functionality / configuration of the PABX with outsourced technical support. 1.
- Assist telephone system users.
- Program the handsets as needed. (BB, ETC)
Qualifications and experience
- Degree in Computer Science / Information Systems / with at least 2 years of work experience in a similar field.
- Extensive hands-on experience in a networked environment and supporting remote users and field offices.
- Strong ability to use and support standard PC applications such as Microsoft OFFICE SUIT.
- Experience supporting web-based applications.
- Experience in training others in the use of microcomputer applications (as mentioned above).
- Fluency in French and English
- Knowledge of Windows platform support (MS 2003/2008 server or higher, MS Windows XP/Vista)
- Previous experience supporting email systems, e.g. MS Exchange
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
