DESCRIPTION
The Association for the Promotion of Local Development (APDEL) is an independent organization created in 2014 to help people (mainly young people) who are victims of social inequalities. We are currently working in 2 regions of Cameroon (North – West and West) in crisis, reconstruction and development contexts to help save lives and rebuild the future. Our association has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Our vocation is to promote and defend the fundamental rights of vulnerable and marginalized people as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, helping them as best we can to do without us in the long term. To meet the needs of the people, we develop our expertise from year to year and we adapt to the needs and the contextual evolution of the localities in which we act. We are currently working in 4 complementary areas with a multisectoral and complementary approach: protection, food security and livelihoods, social cohesion and the promotion of peace, and health. In these sectors of intervention, we have a focus on:
* Social cohesion and the promotion of peace : awareness of peace, conflict prevention, youth employment, restoration of social ties, HIMO activities.
* Food Security and Livelihoods (SAME) : Agriculture, Income Generating Activities, Livestock, Village Savings and Credit Association (AVEC).
* Protection : gender-based violence, children’s rights and rule of law.
* Health : mental health and psychosocial support, distribution of hygiene kits.
For 2 years, we have been using new technologies to support our intervention in the field. Our interventions are implemented in strict compliance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, independence, transparency and adaptation, and local inclusion. More details: As part of our psychosocial support and mental health activities in the West region, we are looking for a motivated and dynamic intern .
NB: This internship is unpaid; nevertheless APDEL will offer a monthly transport allowance to the selected person.
OBJECTIVES AND MAIN ACTIVITIE
1. Planning and implementation of Psychosocial Support activities
* Participate in building the capacities of APDEL’s operational partners on the social protection of GBV survivors;
* Participate in the care (listening, counseling, referral) of GBV survivors during APDEL activities;
* Ensure compliance with the APDEL care protocol by social actors;
2. Telephone line management for support
* Ensure that the hotline and other mechanisms are popularized on all projects being implemented;
*Handle all phone line calls during business hours;
* Record calls received from the telephone line according to project tools and forms and ensure their confidentiality;
* Facilitate guidance for beneficiaries, workers and other project stakeholders on the support mechanism, as well as the role and responsibilities of each stakeholder;
* Refer the calls received to the partners and departments concerned according to the reporting circuit;
* Communicate approved responses to callers in consultation with the SPSM Officer;
* Make a weekly or monthly report of calls received;
3. Field visit
* Carry out field visits to monitor activities;
* Carry out field visits for the follow-up of beneficiaries.
4. Reporting
* Participate in monthly / quarterly meetings with social actors and when necessary with other stakeholders in conjunction with his supervisor;
* Produce periodic reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) on the progress of social protection activities;
* Support the Operational team in the production of periodic reports of projects and activities.
REQUIRED PROFILE
* At least BAC + 2 in psychology, social work, nursing, mental health;
* Experience of at least 3 months in social professions;
* Experience working with children would be an asset;
* Knowledge in the care of victims of gender-based violence;
* Experience in listening and interpersonal communication;
* Knowledge in communication for development and advocacy;
