JRS (Jesuit Refugee Service) is looking for Socio-economic Integration Monitoring Agents for its project in Adamaoua in Cameroon.

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a Catholic non-governmental organization that provides services to refugees and forcibly displaced people in more than 50 countries around the world. JRS is a work of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). As stated in its Charter, JRS’s mission is to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and displaced persons. This mission is rooted in faith in God who is present at the heart of human history, even in its most tragic moments.

JRS collaborates with other humanitarian organizations and agencies with the aim of accompanying forcibly displaced people, providing them with quality services, and publicizing their situation in such a way that their rights and dignity are better respected. . JRS is open to collaboration with Jesuits, men and women religious and laity of all religious and philosophical convictions. Since its creation, JRS has been able to fulfill its mission thanks to the participation of volunteers and staff committed to the service of refugees and displaced persons.

Introduction

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization and a work of the Society of Jesus. It was founded in 1980 and is found nowadays in about fifty countries. Its mission is to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons.
In 2013, responding to the invitation of the Catholic Church of Cameroon (the Archbishop of Bertoua, Mgr. Joseph Atanga) JRS International decided, through JRS/West Africa, to settle in the country in order to to respond to the situation of Central African refugees in Cameroon, especially the thousands of children and vulnerable people who need protection, psychosocial support and educational support. In 2015, after a series of needs assessments, JRS began to deploy in eastern Cameroon as the apostolic work of the Society of Jesus in Cameroon (COJECAM).

General objective of the position
 Under the supervision of the person in charge of Professional Integration, the monitoring agent provides support/advice and local support for young people trained in socio-professional and economic integration.

Main responsibilities
1 Planning of activities
Under the supervision of the person in charge of the Professional and economic integration component, the monitoring agent:
• Promotes the socio-professional and economic integration of young Central African and Cameroonian refugees benefiting from the support of JRS;
• Participates in the planning and preparation of weekly project activities;
• Participates in writing the weekly report;
• Makes visits to parents and young people to be inserted on a monthly basis;
• Participates in the identification of problems and new opportunities for the integration and empowerment of people served and accompanied by the JRS program in the localities where the project is implemented;
• Assistance in the evaluation of the expected results of the project;
• Performs individual and local follow-up of the GIPs and individual companies of the people served two to three times a week;
• Accompanies the people served in the identification of the premises or places of installation of their integration projects; assess the opportunities and obstacles/risks related to the start of the integration project of the young person trained or benefiting from the JRS livelihood program.
• Participates in the drafting of business plans for the projects of the people served (promoters of GIP);
• Support for the development of follow-up documents for the projects of the people served;
• Participates in the drafting of activity reports;
• Make reports to supervisors on the difficulties recorded within the GIPs and establish advocacy with a view to seeking palliative solutions to the difficulties encountered by project promoters

 

2 Reporting
– Writing reports of visits, meetings, as well as weekly and monthly activity reports sent to the professional integration supervisor;
3 Assessment
– Participate in the identification of problems and new opportunities;
– Assist in the evaluation of the expected results of the project.

 




 

Profile sought
Skills and qualifications
1. Work experience of at least 02 years in the field of integration and economic inclusion of young people and have a degree in social science (sociology, anthropology) economic science (rural or urban ),
2. Ability to write activity reports
3. Have perfect command of these languages: French (written and spoken) and local languages ​​such as:
Sango and/or Foulfoubé are highly sought after.
4. Professional attitude and behavior: ability to work in a team but also autonomy in the performance of one’s duties, dynamism, honesty, sense of organization
5. Mastering computers, especially software: Word, Excel, internet.
