SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

 

UNESCO and UNOPS have obtained, with the support of the Cameroonian authorities, new funding from the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) to implement the project entitled: “Strengthening the role of young people in the promotion of living together and multiculturalism through secondary education and non-formal and informal learning centers in Cameroon”. This project aims to contribute to the mitigation of tensions and prevent the emergence of conflicts between displaced persons and host communities, by strengthening the role of young people in the promotion of living together and multiculturalism in educational settings. and community. The project will encourage greater respect and promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity as a point of

To facilitate its implementation, the UNESCO Regional Office for Central Africa is recruiting an Administrative and Financial Assistant.



 

He/she will be placed under the authority of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Central Africa and the direct supervision of the Regional Specialist and Head of the Culture Sector. In compliance with UNESCO rules and procedures, the Project Administrative and Financial Assistant will more specifically perform the following functions in the project:

 

Administrative follow-up of the project:

  • In collaboration with team members, assess administrative support needs for meetings/events/workshops/seminars, travel, document processing/publications production and consultants/temporary assistance and provide services administrative support for them;
  • Keep the Head of Sector and the Project Coordinator informed of the procedures to be undertaken and the administrative deadlines necessary for the execution of the various project activities;
  • Maintain and update all project documentation and files and ensure the archiving and filing of files, including electronic;
  • Provide secretarial services for the team; 
  • Maintain the directory of names and contacts of all partners related to the project;
  • Support the Program Coordinator in writing reports and monitoring project evaluation activities.

Financial management :

 

  • Participate in the development of the annual work plan budget and operational plans;
  • Prepare detailed budgets for planned activities;
  • Budget monitoring;
  • Prepare and monitor the expenditure commitment and payment files related to the project (from the validation of the commitment to be initiated until the closing of the commitment, on time and after the validation of the deliverables);
  • Classify all documents and accounting documents of the project;
  • Maintain the financial integrity of the project and adhere to the budgetary principles, methods, rules and procedures of the Organization.

 

Logistics management :

 

  • Facilitate the organization of workshops and all meetings initiated by the project;
  • Facilitate administrative tasks related to the management of leave, missions and travel, movements, organization of meetings, workshops and seminars, etc.);
  • Ensure the archiving and filing of files, including electronic ones;
  • Perform any other function entrusted to it.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

  • High school diploma with certification in Management, Finance or equivalent field; Bac+3 diploma preferable.

 

Professional experience

  • Experience of at least 4 years in a similar position;
  • Experience in the field of administration, budget management, finance, accounting or related fields;
  • Experience in an international environment.

 

 

Languages

  • Excellent knowledge of English or French (written and spoken) and good knowledge of the other language.

  • Excellent computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Data Management, SAP etc.);
