RECRUITMENT NOTICE
The African Intellectual Property Organization is seeking applications for the
recruitment of a Bilingual Lawyer.
Position Title: Bilingual Lawyer  Closing date for applications: September 5, 2025
Category: SG7
Level (Grade): Master’s Level II
Date of entry into service: Two weeks after notification of recruitment
Length of appointment: Permanent position after a three (3) month trial period
Administrative Unit: Office of the Director General

Closing date for applications: September 5, 2025
Duty station: Yaoundé (Republic of Cameroon)
Eligibility requirements
– Be a national of one of the OAPI member countries and reside in Cameroon.
– Be under 55 years of age on the closing date for applications;
– Enjoy civil rights and be of good character.
Main responsibilities
Under the responsibility of the Chief of Staff, the incumbent is mainly responsible for:
➢ Contributing to the preparation of certain legal files initiated by the Cabinet;

➢ monitor the implementation of the dashboard of the activities of the services attached to the
general management;
➢ Draft administrative correspondence projects initiated by the firm;
➢ Ensure the interface between the OAPI departments and
Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking regional and international partners;
➢ Carry out any other related task assigned to him.
Required qualifications:
➢ Hold a Bachelor’s degree in law or any other diploma recognized as equivalent by the
competent authority;
➢ Have at least three (03) years of professional experience in the legal department
of an International Organization or a Public Administration;
➢ Have a good knowledge of office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
➢ Have good organization in the work, be rigorous in respecting deadlines and be
able to work under pressure;
➢ Have an excellent knowledge of the French language;
➢ Have a good knowledge of one of the following languages ​​(Spanish or Portuguese);
➢ Having a knowledge of the English language would be an asset;

➢ Knowledge of the intellectual property system would be an asset.
Composition of the application file
All candidates for this position must put together a file containing the following documents:
➢ A cover letter;
➢ an extract of birth certificate or a certified copy of the birth certificate or
the supplementary judgment in lieu thereof;
➢ a detailed curriculum vitae;
➢ an extract from the criminal record dated less than three months ago;
➢ a certified copy of diplomas, titles, qualification certificates,
work certificates;
➢ a duly established certificate of public or private employment previously
held and indicating their duration;
➢ a medical examination certificate, dated less than three months ago, attesting that the candidate
meets the physical and mental aptitude conditions.
Remuneration
The position is classified in category SG7 of the salary scale in force at OAPI. Recruitment is
at the 1st level. The person concerned will benefit from the advantages and compensation under the conditions
provided for by the texts in force.

The successful candidate must, prior to taking up service:
– present the originals of their diplomas, titles and civil status documents;

– provide a sworn statement of free engagement or, if he/she is a civil servant, a
deed of secondment.
