Cameroon Customs is looking for an experienced Main Customs Declarant (Senior Customs Declarant) willing to join the young, dynamic and agile team that works every day with devotion to complete a strategic vision of the most ambitious and challenging.
MAIN TASKS AND TASKS
Management of customs procedures
-
- Carry out the customs, fiscal and administrative formalities required to ensure the smooth movement of goods in transit, export, and import.
- Operate the export and import file on camcis platforms and single window.
- Proceed and control the archiving of customs documentation
- Carry out the required documentary checks in accordance with international transit regulations
- Carry out conformity checks on goods in transit
- Perform exact codifications and calculations of CIF values to determine the amounts of duties and taxes payable for import and export
- Intervene with the various customs administrations to manage and resolve customs disputes.
- Depending on the nature of the goods, deal with insurance contracts, health certificates or various certificates.
- Ensure the constant updating of information concerning the progress of files and prevent its hierarchy of possible incidents (delay, blockage) in the procedures
- Regularly inform yourself about customs regulations.
CORE COMPETENCIES

- In-depth understanding of the law, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, political processes and agency rules.
- Strong communication skills are essential in this role, both written and oral, as you will need to compile documentation and be able to interpret the law on behalf of clients in a clear and simple manner.

- Be able to train staff on export and import customs clearance practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required in the role of customs clearance clerk, as you will be dealing with various agencies as part of your daily work.
- Complex problem solving and the ability to engage critical thinking skills will be required as well as the ability to actively listen and interpret concisely.
- Even if you will be working as a team, a customs clearance clerk must be motivated and able to organize their work effectively and keep records.
- You must be able to use computer programs such as WORD, Excel and any other standard software in transit
PROFILE
- Have at least 3 years of professional experience in the customs/transit sector
- Have a CAMCIS diploma
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in logistics and transport and with a certificate of completion of training in customs transit
- Have a sense of rigor and organization
- Knowing how to work under pressure
- Know how to work in a team
- Know how to work in an organized way
- Be fluently bilingual
