Action Against Hunger is an international, apolitical, non-
denominational and non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). For our operations in Cameroon, we are looking for:

CIVIL ENGINEER AND COMMUNITY INTEREST WORKS (TICOM) M/F
Reporting base: Maroua
Number of positions: 01
Contract duration: until 12/31/2026
Start date: March 2025

Supervised by: Deputy RP SAME RESILAC 2
Location: Far North Region (Maroua)
Gross salary for the category: According to the current salary scale of Action Against Hunger
Objective of the position: Participate in the management of project design studies and the implementation of TICOM works
in the selected villages and/or municipalities:
 Support for the local economy and youth (and adult) employment + TICOM works to create/rehabilitate
community assets.
In particular, you will have the following responsibilities:
Mission 1: Actively participate in the implementation of TICOM works to create/rehabilitate
community assets.
 Participate in the development of plans for the works to be built or rehabilitated, highlighting the different
stages;
 Participate in defining the methods for conducting work on construction sites;
 Assist the supervisor in organizing tasks for the beneficiaries of the construction sites;
 Plan activities according to the planned schedule and organize the beneficiaries’ schedule in collaboration
with the TICOM supervisor;
 Ensure the progress of the construction sites, identify and prevent problems or constraints;
 Report complaints and problems identified to the program manager;

 Suggest recommendations to improve the project based on
environmental contexts and studies;
 Update the site log.
Mission 2: Manage workers recruited for construction work on the structures
 Participate in the recruitment and active involvement of young people selected as beneficiaries in
carrying out community interest work;
 Provide technical support to workers and team leaders based on the needs of the project and the needs
of the team (advice and practical training);
 Organize site meetings at the request of the supervisor
Mission 3: Reporting and communication:
 Produce a weekly and monthly report of the activities carried out in the field and submit it for
validation by the TICOM supervisor
 Participate in writing the monthly report at the request of the TICOM supervisor
 Participate in data collection and writing evaluation reports conducted as part of the
project.
Qualifications/Level of studies/Experience:
 Diploma in hydro-agricultural works engineering, sustainable development and/or civil engineering;
 Experience in a similar position and/or in labor-intensive project management, management
of public works activities (including team management)LOCALLY

 Having experience in humanitarian work would be an asset;

Required skills:
 Advanced technical knowledge in TICOM works management, public works or
rural development (bay, mini dam, etc.)
 Fluency in French
 Good knowledge of Fulfulde and other local languages;
 Knowledge of the intervention area;
 Analytical and synthesis skills
 Good writing skills (especially in writing reports)
 Good mobilization, awareness-raising and training skills

 Good organizational skills – Flexibility – Dynamism – Interpersonal skills – Teamwork –
willing to travel extensively in the field
