Background
The GIZ COMIFAC regional programme interacts with the technical cooperation and financial cooperation modules, strengthening the framework necessary for the implementation of the COMIFAC convergence plan – particularly at the policy level (e.g. harmonized forest policies), strategic (sectoral strategies, guidelines for the participation of indigenous peoples, regional gender strategy) regulatory (e.g. design of the legal framework for ABS (Access and Benefit-sharing) systems The
five components of the project are:Component 1:
Strengthening the functioning of the COMIFAC system;
Component 2: Learning and transfer in the COMIFAC system;
Component 3: Participation of local and indigenous populations;
Component 4: Strengthening forestry training;
Component 5: Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (ABS).
To accompany and monitor this dynamic, the COMIFAC Support Project (GIZ / COMIFAC) is looking for an IT Officer (01) for its Coordination Office in Yaoundé.
A- Areas of responsibility and responsibilities
Administration of the computer system and network including management of the internal server.
Operational and technical assistance on IT issues within the Sustainable Congo Basin Management Program.
Management and maintenance of operational equipment and software (IT infrastructure) to support the efficiency of work within the Program.
Maintaining compliance of the IT system with IT guidelines for IT security and data security.
Main interlocutor with headquarters, the BRY antennas for IT-related
issues
In this context, the incumbent has the following responsibilities:
1- Infrastructure and IT tools (hardware, software and networks)
Manage and guarantee the general administration of the entire IT system;
Ensure the availability of sufficiently recent equipment (computers, satellite phones, copiers & printers) in accordance with GIZ standards;
Advise during purchases, ensures the installation and maintenance of IT equipment (laptops, printers, scanners, computers) in accordance with GIZ standards;
Ensure, in coordination with the BRY IT Officer, the implementation, maintenance and configuration of all standard applications and software used at GIZ (e.g. MS Office, WinPACCS, SAP, Onsite, MS Teams, etc.);
Install and configure network equipment (copiers & printers)
Monitor Internet connections used to ensure maximum availability;
TgThe Internet connection (checking that it is working properly, testing the bandwidth, contact with the service provider and acting as an interlocutor during troubleshooting)
Technically manage videoconferencing and VoIP.
2- IT
security Monitor vulnerabilities in communication networks used to prevent data
leakage Ensure regular updates of relevant antivirus software and operating system patches to ensure the security of the work
environment Ensure the proper functioning of the local shared folder system as well as access permissions;
Ensure data backup to ensure full
recoverability Handle the provision and maintenance of data backup programs and ensure system security and data confidentiality;
Ensure the complete management of the server

3- Operational and technical assistance.
Maintain PCs, laptops, printers, digital cameras, scanners, Explorer and Iridium for communication via Satellite and other equipment;
Propose to management acquisitions and improvements to be made in terms of equipment and networks based on the guidelines/recommendations of the GIZ IT Guide.
Ensure the management of the LAN & Wi-Fi, ensure the proper functioning of the local network, install updates if necessary and ensure regular maintenance of the necessary equipment, install / take care of the local area network (LAN) and keep it functional;
Consult with suppliers to ensure the proper functioning of the network, telephone installation and computer equipment;
Organize the elimination of failures or problems affecting computers and Internet links.
4- Tasks of a general
nature Assist in the management of the inventory of computer equipment;
Recommend to the hierarchy, the specifications of the computer equipment to be purchased following the observation of the market in terms of the quality – price ratio.
Introduce new colleagues to GIZ IT equipment, applications and standards and assist the entire team in IT application issues and meet the training needs of IT applications Ensure the “Help-Desk” function on site and inform the IT department at BRY and/or GIZ IT support in the event of major problems affecting GIZ IT
applications;
Ensure that on-site IT is up-to-date in accordance with GIZ IT guidelines Ensure proper documentation of IT domains and application of the GIZ
IT guide Track and verify internet invoices and satellite
phones Perform other activities and tasks as directed by his/her superior.
REQUIRED
PROFILE b- Required profile
1- Qualification and professional
experience Have at least a Master’s degree (BAC + 5) related to d technologiese information or any similar diploma Have a certification in MS Office or equivalent
experience Have a good command of computer network systems, database management software and all MS Office
applications Have at least 2 years of professional experience in a similar
position Knowledge of the software used and the GIZ intranet; Basic knowledge of specific GIZ software (WinPACCS, SAP, Onsite, MS Teams, etc.) will be an asset
2- Other knowledge/skills
Have a spirit of service and rigor of work Be dynamic and have a good organizational
capacity Be able to work
well in a team and be mobile for descents in the antennas in Garoua and Bertoua
Excellent working knowledge of the use of information and communication technologies (corresponding software as well as telephone, fax, e-mail, Internet) as well as computer applications (such as MS Office)
Excellent command of French, knowledge of English

Desired start date: 15 January 2023
Duration of the contract: Two (02) years renewable
