Presentation of the Association Parler D’Elles (APDL)
APDL is a feminist association under Cameroonian law and committed to the promotion of
gender equality and the empowerment of women. Our vision is to contribute to the
construction of an African continent where every woman is a driver of change. To
achieve this ambitious goal, we are looking for a talented and passionate person
to join our team as a Communication and Advocacy Officer
who will develop APDL’s strategy with a particular focus on IRAP.
About IRAP
The Ignite Research and Advocacy Project (IRAP), supported by IGNITE (Inspiring Girls
and Grassroots Networks for Inclusive and Transformative Education) implemented by
APDL (Yaoundé) in partnership with SHREC-GIC (Douala) and AURA Foundation (Limbe),
aims to improve access to education for internally displaced adolescent girls in Douala and Limbe. By
combining various implementation approaches, IRAP seeks to promote access to
education, sexual and reproductive health care, and economic empowerment of
these young girls.

Dimensions and mission of the role
● Implementation of IRAP’s communication strategy
IRAP is a pivotal project for APDL, it represents approximately 50% of the role’s working time
. The implementation of IRAP’s advocacy and communication strategy
aims to maximize its impact. In other words, this dimension aims to:
○ Make the IRAP project known to a wide audience.
○ Influence public policies to take into account the results of
the study
○ Contribute to strengthening the capacities of sub-grantee partners
in the implementation of their communication plans at
● Positioning and image of APDL
As a communication and advocacy officer, the role
also consists of positioning APDL as a key partner in the field of gender equality
and women’s empowerment in Cameroon. This dimension aims to:
○ Strengthen credibility with current and potential partners, particularly
through the dissemination of project and study reports
○ Increase APDL’s visibility and promote its standards and methods
, particularly through its social media platforms and its
intervention website
○ Encourage target audiences to adhere to the values and actions of the
organization’s 2024-2030 strategic plan.
○ Attract new partners and potential donors, particularly through
the sharing of newsletters and the organization of events

Main missions and tasks
The Communication and Advocacy Officer will be responsible for:
● Developing and proposing communication plans, media plans,
editorial plans, as well as budgeting for them:
● Ensuring the execution of communication plans and reporting regularly;
● Contribute (by bringing new ideas, writing content, making
proofreading, producing institutional content, collecting and assembling
contributions, etc.) to the production of quality content (articles, reports,
press releases) for different audiences;
● Organize and monitor the work of the members of the communication team under his/her
responsibility;
● Organize/Contribute to the organization of advocacy events such as forums,
webinars and workshops to promote APDL activities and/or training
and workshops.
Communication and leadership
Under the dual supervision of the APDL Executive Director and the
IRAP Research Coordinator, the Communication and Advocacy Officer will coordinate the work
of the members of the communication team.
Desired profile
● Education: Bac+3 minimum in communication, marketing, public relations or
a related field.
● Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in the field of
communication and in a non-profit organization.
● Skills:
○ Mastery of digital communication tools (social networks, CMS, etc.)
○ Excellent writing and synthesis skills
○ Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
○ Creativity and ability to develop engaging content
○ Mastery of collaborative tools for online work (Google drive,
zoom, etc.)
○ Mastery of English and French (written and oral)
○ Mastery of Canva
● Qualities:
○ Passion for feminist causes and sustainable development in Africa
○ Good knowledge of social networks and standards for
content creation
○ Sense of initiative and autonomy
○ Writing skills
○ Team spirit and ability to work in a multicultural environment
○ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence
○ Deep sense of ethics
○ Adherence to values from APDL
○ Audacity and desire to take on challenges
Remuneration and duration
Remuneration: 250,000 FCFA – 300,000 FCFA per month depending on the profile
Start date: 01/12/2024
Duration: 6 months
