Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
The Contractor – Regulatory Affairs will provide support to Bayobab in driving the East to West expansion project. This role is a 1-year Contract.
The Contractor – Regulatory Affairs in particular will support in the following areas:
- Developing and executing the regulatory engagement strategy in our francophone E2W markets to ensure successful business establishment and license applications.
- Handling documents and correspondence in French and ensuring efficient business translations.
- Draft and review regulatory applications and memoranda
- Assisting with external regulatory stakeholder management in our targeted Francophone markets.

The Contractor – Regulatory Affairs will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:
- Review, draft and negotiate regulatory applications and memoranda and provide support with translation of documents and correspondence in English and French language.
- Provide support in development of the regulatory engagement strategy for various target markets to ensure successful license applications.
- Support in the identification and management of regulatory risks across all markets in which Bayobab operates and its target markets
- Assist with internal and external regulatory stakeholder management in Anglophone and Francophone markets
- Work closely with Group and Opco regulatory and related departments
- Provide support with the management and monitoring of corporate governance rules as per legislative universe
- Maintain regulatory reports including any required Group reporting.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and support lobby efforts with the relevant stakeholders
Qualifications
Job Requirements
(Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education:
- Bachelor of Law (LLB) or other recognized law degree
- Admittance to a bar council
- Fluency in both English and French is essential
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Regulatory Compliance and Regulatory engagement across the African Continent in a telecommunications, technology or digital focus company.
- Worked across diverse cultures and geographies
- Experience in telecommunications environment
Competencies:
- Familiarity with pan African laws and regulations
- A working knowledge of business practices and working knowledge of IT tools for business
- Effective oral and written communications – Team Player – Attention to detail
