As Deputy
- As Head of Mission for Programs, you will be responsible for the implementation of programs across the various bases, ensuring the steering and development of a relevant, appropriate and technically sound program strategy.
To this end, your responsibilities will be as follows: Programs: You will be in charge of implementing programs, ensuring that programs are carried out in accordance with the PUI charter and respecting internal technical guidelines and contractual procedures. You will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of programs at the mission level. You will be in charge of questioning the bases on the needs for quality improvement.
Development/Strategy: You will lead the needs and gaps analysis, and propose new operations based on identified needs, in direct coordination with the Field Coordinators and Technical Coordinators. You will lead donor mapping to develop the fundraising strategy.
Human Resources: You will directly manage the technical coordination team and ensure that the Field Coordinators and Deputy Field Coordinators are supported.
Representation: By delegation of the Head of Mission, you will ensure and coordinate the representation of PUI at the national level with partners, donors and authorities. You will participate in technical forums (working groups).
Coordination: You will ensure effective interaction between the technical coordination team and the bases. You will also ensure that the technical coordination department liaises adequately with the Support Coordinators.
Logistics, administrative and financial monitoring: You will participate, in direct collaboration with the technical coordinators, in the overall supervision of the links between the technical coordination department and the logistics, HR and administrative departments. You will ensure that the implementation of all activities is carried out in compliance with internal and external logistics and administrative frameworks.
The challenges that await you:
1. Monitoring the launch of several new projects; 2. Management and sizing of the technical team in coordination in order to improve the quality of the programs and the accountability system towards the people benefiting from our actions; 3. Development and strengthening of new partnerships with INGOs and NGNOs; 4. Development of projects complementary to current interventions.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Training
You can demonstrate a higher degree (Master 2 or equivalent) in a field related to project management, international development and/or social sciences.
Experience
With at least four years of multi-sector humanitarian project management (including at least two years in a coordination position), you also have experience in project management, needs assessment and proposal development, external representation, and team management. Have you already worked with Première Urgence Internationale? This will be a definite asset!
SKILLS
You are proficient in project management, team management, as well as database management software and statistical packages. You have a thorough knowledge of donor requirements and expectations, in particular ECHO, BHA, WFP, UNHCR, CDCS, AFD and BPRM, as well as excellent writing skills (especially for proposals and reports).
Required qualities
You demonstrate strong leadership and decision-making skills. You have good analytical and synthesis skills, are a good negotiator and a good communicator, both in writing and orally, and know how to guarantee effective results under pressure from deadlines. You demonstrate organization, rigor, flexibility and a strong resistance to stress.
LANGUAGES
Do you speak French and English like the back of your hand? Great, it’s essential for this position! If you also speak Arabic, that would be a definite asset.

PUI will offer you
Status: Executive on Fixed-Term Contract
Gross monthly salary: 2,970.00 – 3,500.00 EUR depending on your experience in international solidarity + 50€ per semester of seniority with PUI
Insurance including medical and supplementary health coverage, 24-hour assistance, repatriation and pension provision
Accommodation in a collective house
Living expenses (“Per Diem”)
Break schedule: 5 working days at 3 and 9 months of mission
Paid Leave Plan: 5 weeks of paid leave/year + return plane ticket home every 6 months
