Job description
The Support Programme “Changes in the Cameroon Cotton Basin – Rural Development Support Program” (ABC-PADER) of GIZ is the result of joint cooperation between Cameroon, Germany and the European Union (EU). It started in September 2020 and is co-funded by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It aims to improve the economic performance of private actors in agriculture and livestock by taking into account production systems adapted to climate change. More specifically, the programme contributes to reinforce employment in rural areas and the sustainability of production systems to climate change. Achieving these objectives requires the implementation of activities and measures through the following outputs: (1) Land tenure security and sustainable land management; (2) Agricultural finance and entrepreneurship; (3) Improved sustainable productivity through climate-smart agriculture; (4) Sector policy and inter-institutional dialogue.
Your tasks
- The main purpose of the Technical Assistant’s mission is to support ONACC in order to contribute to the strengthening of certain internal processes, in particular in connection with organisational development and the improvement of the system of popularisation of climate information to target groups
- Support the process of developing innovative popularisation tools based on the digitisation of data, information and climate services
- Provide support for the development of relations with partner institutions at the national and international level, specialising in issues related to climate change
- Support the partner structure (ONACC) in the design and implementation of a strategy for mobilising financial and technical resources for the accomplishment of its missions
- Support the process of developing new activities and innovations aimed at strengthening technical and administrative staff capacities
- Support the partner structure in the development of projects and submission to technical and financial partners
- Support process of the developing annual planning documents of ONACC
Your profile
- University degree in social or scientific sciences; Knowledge of climatology, geomatics or carbon finance will be an asset
- Experience in capacity building and organisational development
- Experience in networking organisations aimed at achieving defined objectives; development of communication and awareness-raising tools
- Experience in setting up projects and seeking funding
- Experience and mastery of computer software and digitalisation
- An open-minded, proactive and flexible face of unexpected challenges
- Passionate about the work and perseverance in front of difficulties
- An interest in climate change issues
- Fluent in French and English

- To enable you to get ready for your assignment as a development worker and your outward journey, you will be given outward journey leave following your preparation time in Germany.
- We will cover a large portion of the childcare costs for dependent children under 14 who are accompanying you if your partner is not doing so and is not a development worker or integrated expert themselves. Most nursery and school fees are paid.
- We will reimburse you for your rental costs based on the rent index for your country as well as paying you an equipment and furnishing allowance on top.
- You and the members of your family accompanying you will be covered by our health and liability insurance, while your family members will also benefit from accident insurance. In countries in crisis, we operate a comprehensive risk management system for your protection, which minimises personal dangers and risks.
