The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is looking to recruit an experienced Accounting Assistant to assist with general bookkeeping and accounting operations. This full-time position will be based in Yaoundé
Expectations of the accounting assistant
- Processes payment vouchers and makes journal entries in accordance with the foundations operations manual;
- Monitors project budget entries and ensures expenditures are within project budget;
- File all documents sent and received in the finance department;
- Facilitates all field payments during various activities (trainings, workshops, etc.)
- Compile monthly, annual and annual budgets and prepare budget executions;
- Systematically file all disbursement supporting documents no later than the following month and perform cash reconciliations;
- Assist in the preparation of donor financial reports on time in accordance with the donor agreement, in collaboration with the accountant of the foundations;
- Prepare bank reconciliation at the end of each month.
- Scan and submit supporting documents with the financial report as requested by donors;
- Help with payroll management;
- Assist in the declaration and payment of CNPS and taxes;
- Prepares quarterly and annual financial reports in collaboration with the foundations accountant.
- Assist in posting transactions in QuickBooks.
Qualifications/skills required
- Accounting;
- Reporting skills;
- Attention to detail;
- Oriented towards deadlines;
- Privacy;
- Management of time.
Training and experience required
- Bilingual candidates (English and French) preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
- Minimum 3 years of accounting/finance experience. (Preferably in an NGO);
- Experience with financial reporting requirements;
- Experience working with multiple donors;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to lead and motivate a small team would be an advantage;
- Willingness to move to Yaoundé
