PRESENTATION OF THE COMPANY
The French Red Cross (CRf) and the Cameroon Red Cross (CRC) are humanitarian associations, auxiliary to the public authorities, which provide aid and assistance to vulnerable people.
Since 2010, the French Red Cross (CRf) has been present in Cameroon and intervenes in the fields of health, nutrition and food security and livelihoods (SAME) in the
Eastern and Far North regions.
RECRUITMENT CONTEXT
Job Overview
I. Job Objective/Summary.
Under the responsibility and supervision of the Flood Reduction Project Manager, the Flood Project Field Officer is responsible for monitoring the implementation and control of community activities in Mayo Danay Department and ensuring its dynamism.
II. Location of the position This position
is open to persons with the required profile and the successful candidate must reside in Yagoua by his own means; It is therefore not subject to relocation. The candidate selected at the end of the recruitment process will therefore not be able to claim the status of relocated employee, he will have to provide a certificate of domicile attesting to his place of habitual residence.
III. Responsibilities
1. Ensure the implementation of the community awareness and mobilization strategy in the intervention areas
- Participate in the identification of needs for the implementation of activities related to the project team;
- Participate in the planning of project activities and sub-activities;
- Participate in collaboration with community members and technical services of the State and CRC volunteers in the realization of sensitizations in the project area;
- Sensitize beneficiaries and community authorities (chiefs, imam, etc.) on flood risks, first aid and cholera;
- Ensure in collaboration with CRC volunteers the follow-up of small construction works of emergency latrines;
- Ensure in collaboration with the CRC departments of their effective involvement in the activities.
2. Ensure the monitoring and reporting of community activities implemented in the Intervention Areas
- Ensure timely reporting of activities to superiors;
- Participate in the drafting of the various project reports;
- Participate in the adaptation and implementation of awareness-raising tools on flood risks and prevention measures according to the analysis of the situation;
- Support the translation of existing tools into local languages;
- Support the implementation of the PDM surveys planned in the project;
- Contribute to the identification of activities and the implementation of a SERA plan for the project
- Ensure dissemination of lessons learned from the project.
3. Maintain good collaboration with project stakeholders at community level
- Contribute to maintaining the technical image of the CRf in the area;
- Contribute to maintaining the quality of relations with partners and especially the technical services of the State, administrative and traditional authorities as well as CRC volunteers;
- Contribute to ensuring respect for the principles and values of the CRf in terms of partnership;
- Participate in meetings organized with the various project partners at the regional level.
NB: this list of activities is not exhaustive.
Field Officer Mayo-Danay Flood may be called upon to perform other duties as required by his department.

- Diploma / Level of study and experience: Holder of at least a bac + 1 in Social Sciences, Natural Risk Management or any other equivalent diploma
Essential skills and experience:
- Have at least one year’s significant professional experience in community facilitation and facilitation in an NGO;
- Knowledge in project cycle management with strong community involvement;
- Knowledge in the rapid response mechanism and food security;
- Speak Fulfulde;
- Have a good knowledge of the context of the far north of Cameroon precisely Mayo Danay.
Know-how required
- Mastery of the office pack;
- Have analytical and synthesis skills;
- Knowledge of Disaster Risk Reduction programs and DRR tools;
- Perfect command of the French language and local languages (Fufuldé and Guiziga);
- Good facilitation and facilitation skills;
- Physically fit to make trips in the field (90% travel time on the ground) and therefore hold a category A driving license (motorcycle);
- Respect for community traditions and customs.
Specific knowledge:
- Experience in the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement;
- Professional experience in an international or national NGO;
- Having worked in the humanitarian sector would be an asset;
- Good communication and feedback;
- Sense of confidentiality;
- Good organizational skills, anticipation and proactivity;
- Rigor, dynamism and diplomacy;
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to manage a diverse team;
- Autonomy and ability to work in difficult contexts (environmental safety, workload).
