JOB DESCRIPTION
The role of the Finance Assistant is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the functions of the Finance Department
RESPONSIBILITIES
I – General responsibilities
Work in accordance with NRC policies, tools, manuals and guidelines;
Assist in the implementation of support functions in accordance with the action plan;
Ensure proper archiving of documents;
Encourage and be a source of proposals to promote the improvement of support functions;
Keep the cash books of its base up to date, record all accounting entries and prepare all vouchers daily;
Keep the bank books of its base up to date, record all accounting entries and prepare all vouchers daily;
Perform a daily cash count and more particularly at the end of the month;
Ensure that the management of the cash register complies with NRC procedures, and that the signatures, the different levels of authorization are respected and in accordance with the authorization table.
II- Specific responsibilities
Assume day-to-day responsibility for the management of petty cash and safe.
Assumes day-to-day responsibility for the management of check payments.
Maintain records, project accounts on system to ensure timely, accurate and appropriate information is available and reported.
Prepare payment vouchers for cash and checks and ensure timely settlement of all undisputed invoices.
Assist the Finance Manager with cash and bank reconciliations.
Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly and periodic cash counts are performed.
Assist the Finance Officer in monitoring advances and ensure clearance of advances is done on time as per standard finance procedure.
Ensure that all supporting documents are complete and accurate before the financial transaction is recorded in Unit4.
Upload all financial documents to the finance filing tree daily and report the filing status to FO/FC weekly.
Ensure that all transactions over $10,000 are scanned and made available to CF for compliance checklist update.
Be the focal point in the Maroua office during the audit on all the documentation necessary for the auditors.
Be the focal point between the Country Office and the local office regarding remittance requests and other payments through the bank and in cash.
QUALIFICATIONS
I- General professional skills:
Hold a university degree (Bac +3) in Finance / Accounting / Management;
Have a professional experience of at least 3 years in humanitarian activities in complex and unstable contexts;
In-depth knowledge of the social, cultural, economic and legal context;
Master the computer tool (Windows, Word, Excel);
Have good writing skills in French and a basic knowledge of English;
II- Context-specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Be able to work in a team and in a heterogeneous and international environment;
Be able to break down a project/activity into achievable tasks;
Perform assigned tasks in accordance with set deadlines;
Communicate professionally; speak and write clearly, effectively and respectfully
Accept new ideas and necessary changes;
Adhere to NRC values, code of conduct, NRC administrative and security policy
Knowledge of the security context and the socio-cultural environment of the Far North of Cameroon is an asset
We offer:
A 12-month CDD, renewable depending on the availability of funds
Position based in Maroua with 30% field travel
Desired start date: November 2022
