Flinders University College of Science and Engineering Research Awards (CSERA) Main Round 2023

The College of Science and Engineering each year offers a small number of research awards to applicants for postgraduate research scholarships, who do not obtain an Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Scholarship or Flinders University Research Scholarship.

 




 

The College of Science and Engineering Research Awards are tenable at Flinders University for up to three years for a Doctorate by research, or up to two years for a Masters degree, subject to satisfactory progress. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree may be deducted from the maximum period of tenure.

This award will only be available to applicants who will commence or are continuing a Masters degree by research or Doctorate by research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Requirements for College of Science and Engineering Research Awards (CSERA) Main Round Qualification

Awards will only be available to those who:

  • Are Australian citizens; or New Zealand citizens; or have been granted permanent resident at the closing date of applications; or be an international student who has completed an Honours degree or equivalent qualification at an Australian University no more than two years prior to the application closing date; and
  • Have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies at a high level of achievement and have an appropriate Honours 1 or high 2A (or equivalent) undergraduate degree;
  • Are enrolling as full-time students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering;
  • Will commence or are continuing a Masters degree by research or Doctorate by research;
  • Have had their candidature accepted in the area in which they propose to undertake their studies.

 

 

This award will normally be offered on the basis of academic merit and research potential to the highest-ranked eligible postgraduate research scholarship applicant(s), who do not obtain an AGRTP Scholarship or Flinders University Research Scholarship.

Aim and Benefits of College of Science and Engineering Research Awards (CSERA) Main Round

The scholarship pays an indexed stipend of $33,000.00 p.a. tax free (2023 rate).

In addition, recipients who are Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, or hold Australian Permanent Residency status will be provided a Research Training Program Fee Offset which covers tuition fees for up to four years. International students are not eligible for a Research Training Program Fee Offset.

Select the Submit an application button below.  Here you can create your profile or log in if you are already a student or recent student.  Once you are able to log in to the Student System, you will be able to lodge your application.  If you are already a Higher Degree by research student (enrolled or have a current offer for admission) and you are only applying for the scholarships, please go to the My Scholarships tab at the top menu to find the scholarship application.  If you are applying for admission and the scholarships you should select the My Application tab at the top menu and follow the steps to identify you are applying for a scholarship in this combined application.  The Scholarship is called Higher Degree Research Scholarship Main Round – Grouping Reward in both portals.

One application will apply for both the AGRTPS, the FURS and any other scholarship opportunities such as the CSERA that may be available during the round.
