*Food Safety Specialist Needed at Intersos an International NGO*

Missions and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager (PM) and in close collaboration with the M&E Manager and the Assistant Project Manager, the Food Security Specialist is responsible for managing all activities related to food security in the project. He is responsible for planning, implementation, administration, team management, training of field assistants and rural supervisors. He ensures the quality of services, consistency, Spheres norms and standards, humanitarian principles and accountability and reporting in his intervention area.
Specific tasks :
➢ Implementation of activities/control and supervision
- Ensure community awareness on aspects of the project related to food security, livestock farming according to the schedule and themes established by its hierarchy
- Ensure/participate in the planning (weekly, monthly, quarterly) of activities;
- Supervise field activities;
- Anticipate and plan the needs necessary for the proper execution of activities in the field;
- Monitor and report weekly on the progress of field activities and propose changes when necessary;
- Participate in coordination meetings of INTERSOS or sectoral technical partners in connection with field activities;
- Organize field visits (INTERSOS, donors, partners) when necessary; • Write activity, evaluation, meeting reports, etc.
➢ Technical aspects
- List the most vulnerable IDPs, refugees and host families in the intervention areas: Mayo Sava, Mayo Tsanaga, Logone-et-Chari;
- Supervise and organize beneficiaries for project activities;
- Train field assistants on topics related to Agriculture, Irrigation, livestock breeding, etc.;
- Ensure that each identified and registered beneficiary has received the intended assistance;
- Calculate and verify the exact number of households having received aid at the end of each distribution while ensuring compliance with the quantity distributed per family;
- Ensure good collaboration with the technical services of the Cameroonian State and/or technical partners of the project as well as humanitarian actors;
- Support rural supervisors in the implementation, training and monitoring of project activities; • Develop the capacities of beneficiaries to undertake agricultural production and income management activities
- Ensure awareness and mobilization of vulnerable communities on humanitarian principles;
- Strengthen their capacities in the integrated management of agricultural, livestock and irrigation activities;
- Train field assistants on food security issues;
- Spend 70% of your time in the field supervising/advising on field activities with INTERSOS local partners and rural supervisors.

- Ensure that INTERSOS procedures and guidelines are followed and respected;
- Apply INTERSOS security procedures and ensure that all members of the team respect them;
- Ensure the management and monitoring of materials supplied or delivered to activity sites.
- Participate in program meetings at the request of his/her supervisor;
- Ensure that documentation relating to activities is provided and archived correctly;
- Write and transmit activity reports (weekly, monthly);
- Participate in the drafting of the monthly program pack (timeline, monthly report, etc.);
- Establish and maintain good relationships with local stakeholders and communities in the intervention area;
- Stay attentive to the populations and the actors in the field and report to your hierarchical superior any non-technical or security problem that could have consequences on the security of the INTERSOS teams
Job Requirements
Education
- Engineering degree (Bac+5) in agronomy and/or rural development and any other related scientific field.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a humanitarian context, in an association, an NGO or an INGO, with at least 2 years of experience working in the field in a humanitarian crisis context.
- At least 2 years of team management experience; any relevant experience at a similar level of responsibility would be an asset
Language
- Fluency in French (written and spoken), knowledge of English is an asset.
- Mastery of one or more local vehicular languages (Fulfulde, Choa Arabic) would be an asset
Knowledge Skills / Attitudes
- Demonstrable experience in compliance and reporting with various funders.
- Strong writing skills.
- Leadership, people management and development, teamwork and cooperation.
- Strategic vision (Results and quality orientation, Flexibility,
- Commitment to INTERSOS principles, Understanding of principles, standards and best practices in humanitarian operations).
- Hold a motorcycle driving license, category A (driving a motorcycle is compulsory, therefore eliminatory).
- ICT: Basic knowledge of: Have excellent command of IT tools: Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Outlook; Sphinx, etc.
