General Mission:
The Forestry Equipment Garage Manager supervises all activities related to the
maintenance, repair and monitoring of forestry equipment such as Caterpillar bulldozers,
excavators, skidders and loaders. He/she ensures the proper functioning of the
equipment while guaranteeing compliance with safety standards and maintenance deadlines
. He/she manages a team of technicians and ensures the optimal management of the
equipment fleet.
Main responsibilities:
1. Equipment management and maintenance:
o Supervise and organize preventive and corrective maintenance operations
for forestry equipment.
o Diagnose breakdowns and determine the appropriate technical solutions for
each type of equipment.
o Ensure the planning of maintenance interventions, technical shutdowns
and periodic checks.
2. Maintenance team management:
o Supervise a team of mechanics and technicians specialized in forestry machinery
.
o Ensure the distribution of tasks and management of intervention schedules.
o Train and develop the skills of employees in maintenance
specific to forestry machinery.
3. Inventory and spare parts management:
o Ensure the supply and management of spare parts required
for repairs.
o Collaborate with suppliers for the purchase of machine-specific parts
(engines, transmissions, hydraulic components, etc.).
o Manage inventory and stock rotation to avoid shortages.
4. Machine performance monitoring:
o Set up a system for monitoring machine performance (working hours
, recurring breakdowns, maintenance costs).
o Analyze maintenance histories to detect trends and propose
corrective actions.
o Ensure regular reporting of the condition of the equipment fleet to management.
5. Safety and compliance with standards:
o Ensure that interventions comply with current safety standards and
manufacturers’ recommendations.
o Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly by
the team.
o Comply with environmental regulations, particularly regarding
waste and used oil management.
6. Administrative management:
o Write intervention reports and maintenance reports.
o Monitor maintenance budgets and ensure compliance with costs.
o Manage technical documentation for machines (maintenance manuals, maintenance sheets
).
Required skills:
1. Technical skills:
o Expertise in mechanics, hydraulics and electronics applied to
forestry machines (Bull Caterpillar, excavators, loaders, skidders, etc.).
o Ability to diagnose and repair complex breakdowns.
o The garage manager must have very serious mechanical skills.
2. Managerial skills:
o Ability to manage a technical team and organize work.
o Initiative and ability to make decisions quickly.
o Skills in managing schedules and priorities.
3. Organizational skills:
o Rigor in managing stocks and deadlines.
o Ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel and work under pressure.
4. Communication skills:
o Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with different departments
(management, logistics, security).
o Ability to report clearly and precisely.
Desired profile:
• Training:
Bac +2 to Bac +5 in industrial, mechanical, or electromechanical maintenance, with a
specialization in heavy or forestry equipment.
o Certification in maintenance of Caterpillar equipment or other brands
of forestry equipment is an asset.
• Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in the maintenance of forestry equipment, with
experience in team management.
• Personal qualities:
o Organizational skills and rigor.
o Autonomy and proactivity.
o Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working conditions:
• Type of contract: Progressive fixed-term contract
• Hours: 35-40 hours per week, possibility of on-call depending on the needs of the site.
• Remuneration: 2.5 million FCFA net / month
