Job Summary
S/he must: Works under the direct supervision of the GBV Supervisor and the technical supervisor of the GBV Manager and is responsible for the overall Implementation of GBV activities in the Far North (Mogode and Minawao). S/he provides daily fieldwork activities, in collaboration with GBV Mobilizer and coordination of Psychosocial Care & Case Management to ensure quality and timely service delivery to the beneficiaries. The post requires an enthusiastic highly, motivated individual who has deep knowledge on GBV and harmful practices programming in both humanitarian and development settings.
The post holder will need to deliver effective, highly competent project support and is expected to consistently deliver in a person centered environment, which promotes positive relationships. S/he most ensures timely and cost effective implementation of program activities. As well as reporting closely with program and MEAL team. S/he is also expected to build the capacity of community mobilizers as well as other implementing partners on GBV.
Program management and implementation
- Coordinate daily fieldwork activities, in collaboration with GBV Mobilizer.
- Coordination of Psychosocial Care & Case Management:
- Conduct community outreach to inform community members of available care and services for GBV survivors including medical, psychosocial and legal.
- Support survivors of GBV in the community; provide basic psychosocial support, referral, case management and case follow-up on-site.
- Ensure safety and access to timely, quality medical care.
- Provide follow-up and additional psychosocial support as needed, including home visits.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding case information, including the appropriate documentation of new cases and storage of case notes in locked filing cabinets.
- Be knowledgeable of guidelines and standards in providing response to GBV cases.
- Follow GBV guiding principles of safety/security, confidentiality, respect and non-discrimination.
- Staff the Counseling Room at the District Hospital as needed to ensure continuous coverage.
Capacity Building:
- Supervise and build the capacity of Health Promoters in community mobilization, mass sensitization around GBV prevention and response, and other communication skills.
- Engage GBV Mobilizer in community health education and sensitization activities.
- Support Health Promoters to supervise CHW-led sensitization sessions after they receive formal training.
- Support the development and implementation of trainings for IMC staff, medical personnel, youth and other actors as needed.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Ensure accurate data collection of field activities by GBV Mobilizer
- Compile data and submit weekly reports to the GBV Supervisor
- Keep accurate registers of community participation during community sensitization and skills building activities.
- Maintains flexibility to perform other tasks when requested by the supervisor.
Education, experience and skills
Education: A degree in Social Work, Sociology, gender, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study, or equivalent experience
Experience:
- Two years of experience in GBV program implementation especially with refugees.
- Relevant experience in the GBV area is strongly preferred
- Experience working with national or international NGO supporting the health system in Cameroon
- Experience in working in a multicultural and multiethnic environment
- Experience in emergency response in Cameroon is a plus.
- Reside in the Far-North region is a plus
Skills:
- Familiarity with standards and guidelines for GBV programming as well as guidance on protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA)
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
- Ability to work well with a cross-cultural team
- Strong capacity to work for long and under pressure, be dynamic, smart and proactive.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet). Able to learn and use software used for recording.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt easily in a resource-limited environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills French and local language (Fulfulde language). Knowledge of English is a plus.

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps
