we are looking for a meticulous and organized GL Accountant to join their finance team. The role will be
responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and
supporting the company’s commitment to operational efficiency and growth

Job Purpose
Job Purpose • Financial Record Maintenance: The General Ledger Accountant will be
responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records in the
general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company
policies.
• Tax and VAT Oversight: This role will oversee the preparation and submission of
tax and VAT returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
• Fixed Asset Management: The General Ledger Accountant will manage the
accounting for fixed assets, including acquisition, depreciation, and disposals,
ensuring accurate reporting in the financial statements.

Key tasks and accountabilities
Key tasks • General Ledger Maintenance: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all
entries in the general ledger, including journal entries and adjustments.
• Tax and VAT Returns: Prepare and submit tax and VAT returns in compliance with
legal requirements, ensuring timely filings of monthly and annual returns and
accurate calculations. Act as contact person for annual tax audits from tax
administration.
• Fixed Asset Accounting: Manage the fixed asset register, ensuring proper
recording of acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
• Inventory Accounting: Oversee inventory transactions, ensuring accurate
valuation and proper accounting treatment in accordance with relevant standards.
• Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of all balance
sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Financial Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, providing insights into financial performance and position.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification (eg, CPA, ACCA) is preferred.

• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar
role.

• In-Depth Knowledge of Accounting Principles: Solid understanding of
accounting standards and principles, particularly related to general ledger
maintenance.
• Tax and VAT Knowledge: Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance
requirements related to VAT and corporate tax. Knowledge of annual tax return
filing.
• Fixed Asset Accounting Skills: Experience in managing fixed asset accounting,
including depreciation and disposals.
• Inventory Management Acumen: Knowledge of inventory accounting methods
and practices.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and
provide actionable insights.
• Good understanding of ERP systems.
• Good knowledge of excel and MS office tools.
• Language skills: Must be bilingual. Fluent English and intermediate French, or
fluent French and intermediate English is critical.
