*Global Accountants Needed at the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie*

I – PRESENTATION

Within the Finance Department, the Global Accounting and Treasury Department is responsible for the AUF’s global treasury, the organization and coordination of all work related to general accounting and the production of the AUF’s financial statements. The department is composed of one (1) collaborator in Montreal (Quebec), two (2) collaborators in Paris (France) and one (1) collaborator in Hanoi (Vietnam).

The global accountant participates in the animation of the AUF accountants network and in the preparation of infra-annual accounting statements and annual financial statements.

II – MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Production of global accounting

   1. General accounting

  •  Proceed with the recording of certain receipts (contributions, own receipts, etc.)
  •  Carry out monthly adjustment and year-end accounting operations and their reversal (in particular provisions, inventory entries, fixed assets, other accounting treatments)

Participation in the establishment of global financial accounts

  •  Participate in monthly and quarterly closings, in collaboration with regional and local accountants, and ensure the monthly closing of ERP modules
  •  Provide support to regional and local accountants on meeting deadlines, prioritizing entries, and resolving accounting issues.
  • Participate in the preparation of annual financial statements
  • Prepare the AUF-EU annual audit file
  •  Participate in AUF-EU tax declarations, ensure compliance with tax obligations

2. Accounting quality and internal control

Control of accounting and financial operations

  • Analyze certain income and balance sheet accounts periodically
  • Reconcile certain general ledger items
  •  Ensure the reliability of the accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports in collaboration with regional accountants.

 

Ensuring compliance with accounting procedures and standards

  •  External and internal audits: answering questions and implementing recommendations
  •  Carry out internal supervisory control, participate in updating risk mapping and implement the annual action plan

Carry out any specific mission that may be entrusted to him, punctually or permanently

III – REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Training

  •  Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant field

Experience

  • At least three (3) years of experience in the field of employment
  •  Experience with integrated management software packages (particularly under Oracle)
  •  Experience in an international, multi-site and multicultural context, an asset

SKILLS

      • Solid knowledge of accounting and finance
      • Knowledge of accounting and financial data analysis

  •  Knowledge of budgetary, financial and accounting techniques and procedures
  • Proficiency in written and spoken French
  • Know how to communicate in English in writing and orally
  •  Proficiency in office automation tools and information systems used in the field of finance and accounting (spreadsheets, databases, ERP, etc.)
  •  Ability to thrive in an international, multi-site and multicultural university environment
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of conformity
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  •  Demonstrate attention to detail, concern for verification and control

IV – CONDITIONS

Place of assignment: Montreal (Canada) or Yaoundé (Cameroon)

Employment in Cameroon
Contract type: Fixed-term contract of five (5) to six (6) months
Start date: March 17, 2025
Special conditions: Possibility of travel to the various AUF locations
NB Candidates who do not have the nationality or residency of the country of assignment must hold a valid work permit.The AUF promotes parity.
