Shwari Health Cameroon is a locally registered organization with a vision to ensure the provision of quality, effective and innovative evidence-based solutions to address health systems challenges within the health sector in Cameroon and beyond with a special focus to children and adolescents . To achieve this, Shwari Health Cameroon uses proven community strategies to identify HIV infected children and adolescents, refer them to health facilities for initiation on treatment, support and accompany them through treatment to ensure they remain in care and achieve viral suppression. Our mission is to be one of the most sought-after implementations science associations in Cameroon that uses evidence-based strategies to effectively cover the ‘Know-Do’ gaps in the provision of health services. We aim to achieve this through the application of modern evidence generation and synthesis methods to understand operational contexts so as to motto strategies that could make the implementation efforts more effective and efficient.
SHWARI Health Association, in partnership with Georgetown University’s Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI), the Government of the Republic of Cameroon’s Regional Technical Groups (RTGs), will be implementing a project titled SAFECARE-Cameroon, which is a 5-year CDC/PEPFAR-Funded project. SAFECARE-Cameroon’s goal is to develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive facility and community-based HIV services for children, adolescents, and adults in Cameroon in PEPFAR supported regions of the country and support the country to quickly track its progress to achieve HIV epidemic control . As a result, SHWARI Health Association Cameroon (SHAC) is recruiting for the following program implementation positions. All prospective candidates must be fluent in French and working knowledge of English. These positions will be based in Yaoundé or Bertoua.
SHAC Office Positions
Position: Health Informatics Specialist, SAFECARE Project -Cameroon
Reports to: Strategic Information and Health Informatics Team Lead
Location of work: Yaoundé, Cameroon
Number of positions: 01
Position Overview: The health informatics specialist/officer will install and configure, maintain all computer systems (hardware and software) and networks at the project office and at all locations (facilities) where SHAC has an IT infrastructure.
Essential Functions
System management
• Support and troubleshoot applications and services on associated physical servers, virtual servers, networks, storage systems and information security systems.
• Be able to implement Georgetown University’s Business processes for all new and existing applications structures and operations to customers use expectations
• Provide software engineering support when building, deploying, configuring and supporting systems for e-solutions
• Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
• Supports IT operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
• Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
• Ensure that all required EMRs are functional
• Ensure all systems remain functional, available and secure.
• Generate reports from different data sources in line with data management demands
Technology Management
• Investigate, analyze and make recommendations to management regarding technology improvements, upgrades and modifications
• Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
• Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
• Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
Information Technology Support
• Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications;
• Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
• Talking staff or clients through a series of actions, to help set up systems or resolve issues;
• Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;
• Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
• Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;
• Supporting the roll-out of new applications;
• Setting up new users’ accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
• Responding within agreed time limits to call-outs;
• Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate);
• Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with other professionals, such as software developers and vendors;
• Testing and evaluating new technology;
• Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
• Experience: Minimum 5 years working experience in a similar position; demonstrated success developing a variety of software systems while taking on increasing responsibility for analysis, design, implementation, and deployment tasks
• Specialized knowledge: Proficient in using MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Web services APIs, working in mixed environments including Linux, Unix and/or Windows on desktop, server, tablet, and mobile systems
• Skills: Strong organizational, time management, computer and communication skills, leadership, coaching, and team building skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships to help achieve organizational goals.
• Abilities: Strategic and analytical thinking skills with ability to solve problems and make decisions and able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize, ability to determine activities and project towards measurable goals and standard setting in collaboration with other team members.
• Interpersonal/Individual Competencies: ability to work with other team members, flexibility, decisiveness, and personal integrity
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
