Shwari Health Cameroon is a locally registered organization with a vision to ensure the provision of quality, effective and innovative evidence-based solutions to address health systems challenges within the health sector in Cameroon and beyond with a special focus to children and adolescents. To achieve this, Shwari Health Cameroon uses proven community strategies to identify HIV infected children and adolescents, refer them to health facilities for initiation on treatment, support and accompany them through treatment to ensure they remain in care and achieve viral suppression. Our mission is to be one of the most sought-after implementations science associations in Cameroon that uses evidence-based strategies to effectively cover the ‘Know-Do’ gaps in the provision of health services. We aim to achieve this through the application of modern evidence generation and synthesis methods to understand operational contexts so as to devise strategies that could make the implementation efforts more effective and efficient.
SHWARI Health Association, in partnership with Georgetown University’s Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI), the Government of the Republic of Cameroon’s Regional Technical Groups (RTGs), will be implementing a project titled SAFECARE-Cameroon, which is a 5-year CDC/PEPFAR-Funded project. SAFECARE-Cameroon’s goal is to develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive facility and community-based HIV services for children, adolescents, and adults in Cameroon in PEPFAR supported regions of the country and support the country to fast track its progress to achieve HIV epidemic control. As a result, SHWARI Health Association Cameroon (SHAC) is recruiting for the following program implementation positions. All prospective candidates must be fluent in French and working knowledge of English. These positions will be based in Yaoundé or Bertoua.
SHAC Office Positions
Position: Information Technology Officer, SAFECARE Project -Cameroon
Reports to: Health Informatics Specialist
Location of work: Bertoua, Cameroon

Position Overview: The IT Officer maintains the computer networks of all types of organizations, providing technical support and ensuring the whole company runs smoothly. IT officer monitors and maintains the company computer systems, installs and configures hardware and software, and solves technical problems.
Essential Functions
Technical expertise
o Support and troubleshoot applications and services on associated physical servers, virtual servers, networks, storage systems and information security systems.
o Ensure all systems remain functional, available and secure.
o installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
o Deploy and support VMWare/vSphere environment including vCenter and VMWare servers.
o Configure, deploy and maintain network components including switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, VPN concentrators and security appliances.
o Contribute to the development, maintenance and periodic testing of disaster recovery plans.
o Undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades
o Talking to clients and computer users to determine the nature of problems
o Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults
o Checking computer equipment for electrical safety
o Maintaining records of software licenses
o Managing stocks of equipment, consumables and other supplies.
o Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
o Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
o Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
o Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
o Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders
o Works with business users to elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs
o Clearly articulates and documents business functional requirements
Communication
o Maintain reports and documentation that are consistent with the task at hand and available to all concerned parties via emails or standard archiving options
o Connects easily with supervisors and colleagues at all levels in a professional manner
Creativity
o Generate solutions or approaches to the most demanding problems within the team
o Establish workable, prioritized, and highly effective problem-solving plans for each problem

Qualifications and Experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar technical discipline; or, equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 4 years of technology experience
o 3 years hands-on technical roles in the field and relies on experience
• Specialized knowledge:
o Proficient knowledge of Windows Server OS architecture, design, management, scripting and troubleshooting.
o Proficient knowledge of Linux based OS architecture, design, management, scripting and troubleshooting.
o Adequate understanding of VMWare (virtualization) architecture, core services and administration.
o Proficient understanding of security best practices.
o Proficient knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP, etc.).
o Adequate understanding of applied network principles, including sub-netting, performance monitoring, scalability and disaster recovery.
o Adequate knowledge of Backup/restore process.
o Pass a background check as well as an alcohol, controlled substance, and illegal drug screen that meets Company standards before beginning regular employment.
o Strong attention to detail and focus on task completion.
o Internal and External Stakeholder Management.
o Ability to get on with all levels of people
• Possess strong relationship building skills.
• Professional fluency in oral and written English and French.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
