Presentation of the Red Cross
A major player in the social and solidarity economy, the French Red Cross manages a network of more than 600 establishments and services in the health, medico-social and training sectors.
It is also at the head of 12 regional health and social training institutes.
A member of the world’s largest humanitarian network, the French Red Cross thus employs more than 17,000 employees who, through more than 70 professions, put their professionalism at the service of the most vulnerable within medical and educational institutes, nurseries, retirement homes, functional rehabilitation centres, emergency accommodation centres, training centres, international missions, etc.
Country Context:
Cameroon, whose capital is Yaoundé, is a country in central and western Africa, located between Nigeria to the west, Chad to the north, the Central African Republic to the east, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and the Republic of Congo to the south and the Gulf of Guinea to the southwest.
Its territory is made up of 475,442 km2. Its population amounts to 27.20 million inhabitants (Source: World Bank 2021) and is divided into 10 regions.
Context of the regions of intervention:
Since 2010, the French Red Cross (FRC) has been present in Cameroon in the Far North region and intervenes in the areas of health, nutrition, food security and livelihoods (SAME) and recently (2020) in Risk and Disaster Management (GRC)
The Cameroonian Red Cross (CRC)
Member of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent since 1963, the CRC is an auxiliary association of the Cameroonian public authorities and recognized as being of public utility.
In accordance with its strategic development plan, the Movement’s partners (ICRC, IFRC, CRF) try through their projects to support the NS in the development of its resources.

General mission of the DMI:
Under the authority of the Head of Delegation, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible. and of
- Coordinate the logistics of the delegation
- Supervise purchasing activities for the entire delegation
- Ensure that logistics procedures are understood and applied throughout the delegation / Continue capacity building and coordination of logistics teams as well as the CRC
- Oversee communication within the logistics department, including reporting
- Contribute to the monitoring and analysis of the security context, ensure that the security rules are applicable
- Define the purchasing and logistics strategy in line with the orientations of the delegation and ensure its implementation
- Manage his team with regular missions in the 3 bases / sub-delegations and monthly points to be carried out with the base logisticians
MISSIONS AND ACTIVITIES:
- Ensures the coordination of the logistics service of the delegation
- Ensures the purchases and supply of goods, services and works
- Provide inventory management
- Ensure the organization of transport
- Ensures the management and maintenance of the motorized fleet
- Keeps track of equipment
- IT and means of telecommunication
- Provides infrastructure management
- Safety and security
- Ensure capitalization and reporting
- Ensures monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning
- Participates in good partnership relations and the development of National Societies
- Ensures the effective and dynamic management and animation of his team
HIERARCHICAL AND FUNCTIONAL LINKS
Hierarchical link:
The logistics coordinator is under the responsibility of the Head of Delegation. He/She is responsible for an Assistant to the Logistics Coordinator.
Functional links:
He/she is the functional referent of the managers of the Maroua and Kousseri logistics team.
He/she also maintains a functional link with the logistics referent at headquarters.
Collaborates internally with :
- The Programs Department
- The finance department
- The Human Resources Department
Collaborates externally with:
- The Logistics Department of the Cameroon Red Cross
- IFRC Logistics Manager
- The ICRC Logistics Coordinator
- Chad Logistics Coordinator

Candidate profile
Qualifications and experiences
- Training in logistics (Bioforce type or license level in logistics) and experience in a similar position or minimum 3 years in a position of Field Logistics Manager
Mandatory job requirements
- Ability to organize and manage national and expatriate teams
- Great flexibility
- Cultural adaptability and listening skills
- Ability to cope with various pressures
- Good synthetic and analytical mind
- Good knowledge or experience of the Red Cross Movement (operation, mandates, etc.)
- Knowledge of donor procedures
- Experienced in reporting
- Mastery of purchasing procedures, stock management, management of a fleet of vehicles
- Very good teamwork skills. At ease and flexible in human relations
- Rigor, flexibility and adaptability
- Patience
- Writing ability and experience in project writing and report development
- Driving license B
- Previous experience as a logistics coordinator of humanitarian projects
Appreciated skills
- Mastery of the Office package (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), networking (G-Suite/Google Workspace)
- Notions of finance, HR and programs are required
- Mastery of the computer tool (complete autonomy on Word and Excel).
- Skills related to the specific environment of the mission:
- Ability to live in a shared apartment (Guesthouse)
LANGUAGES
- Excellent level of French mandatory (spoken and written)
- Fluency in English would be a plus
Conditions of employment
Type of status : expatriate
Type of contract : CDD under French law
Salary: According to the classification of the position on the CRf grid and according to the experience of the candidate
Per diem: daily per diem which varies according to the country
Leave : 10 to 15 days minimum every 6 months – Plane ticket 100% covered by the CRf for home journey
Health cover : CFE + Mutuelle MSH (100% covered) – 75% covered by the CRf
MedEvac/repatriation insurance : YES
Other insurance : provident insurance (death and disability)
Summary:
Location : CAMEROON – Yaoundé with regular trips to the Far North regions
Duration: 12 months (renewable)
