Job offer: Quality engineer in charge of the supply of civil engineering equipment
We are recruiting on behalf of our client in charge of a large-scale construction project in Cameroon a Quality Engineer in charge of the Supply of Civil Engineering Equipment. In connection with the Hydraulic Engineering Center (CIH) this position reports to the Deputy Technical Director.
Main mission of the position
The Quality Engineer we are looking for is in charge of defining the needs in terms of quality and quantity of the Civil Engineering equipment necessary as part of the development of the project.
Job Responsibilities
In connection with the Purchasing Department:
- Guarantee the local supply chain of civil engineering equipment;
- Identify local material suppliers;
- Ensure their material and technical capabilities to deliver the requested civil engineering equipment (sand, cement, gravel, concrete, etc.);
- Support the development of the skills of local suppliers;
- Certify that the quality and quantities of civil engineering materials delivered correspond to orders.
In connection with local suppliers:
- Identify local suppliers;
- Check supplier certifications;
- Specify the quantities and qualities of civil engineering materials;
- Estimate the volumes of materials for site needs;
- Define material requirements (quality, cost, supply times);
- Write local procurement requirements in the construction tender specifications.
In conjunction with local technical partners:
- Identify local technical partners;
- Be able to produce and deliver the requested services;
- Master the profiles necessary for the service to be delivered;
- Ensure that staff have the necessary certification and authorization.
In conjunction with the Environment & Social (E&S) and QHSE Departments:
- Take inventory of industries in the construction sector in Cameroon and target key companies;
- Implement monitoring of a quality audit of industries (by a certified firm);
- Write and launch a support plan for increasing the skills of the audited industries.
In conjunction with the Corporate Affairs Department (governance, legal and tax affairs):
- Contact the MINMIDT (Ministry of Mines and Industry and Technological Development) as well as the MINFI (Ministry of Finance) to clarify regulations on import/substitution.
Profile and skills sought
- Have proven experience in the execution of large-scale projects;
- Good knowledge of civil engineering materials, quality standards and quality assessment methods;
- Have experience in civil engineering and/or quality management projects;
- Mastering the industrial environment in Cameroon;
- Have a spirit of synthesis;
- Good writing skills;
- Master the office pack;
- Bilingualism.
