RECRUITMENT NOTICE
The Institute for Research, Socio-economic Development and Communication (IRESCO) is an apolitical and non-profit organization whose mission is to contribute to improving the quality of life of African populations through the promotion and implementation of viable development initiatives, based on the evidence of research. To effectively accomplish its mission, IRESCO relies on qualified personnel, recruited through a highly competitive and fair selection process. Its headquarters are located in the Mendong – Yaoundé district in Cameroon.
In anticipation of the implementation of a malaria control project in Cameroon, IRESCO is launching a call for applications for the following position:

 

 

Position: Expert in Community Mobilization

Place of employment: IRESCO headquarters office located in Mendong – Yaoundé with the possibility of assignment to another region of the country as needed.

Type of contract: Fixed-term contract with possibility of transfer to a permanent contract, depending on the candidate’s performance.

NB: This call for applications is conditional on obtaining funding for this project from IRESCO.

 

 

 

Job description:
Under the authority of the Coordinator, the Community Mobilization Expert will design and supervise all community mobilization activities in connection with a malaria control project in Cameroon. He will have the following tasks:
1. Plan the activities of the Community Mobilization component of the Project, prepare the annual and quarterly work plans and ensure its implementation in the overall strategy of the Project including the results;
2. Liaise with relevant stakeholders (partner NGOs, PNLT, USAID) and participate in all meetings and encounters relating to the monitoring and development of joint Project activities; (Technical Committee, Steering Committee, etc.).
3. Ensure relevant project documentation, compile/process information from partners, government, donors, service providers, consultants and CBOs,

 

 

 

4. Prepare and/or participate in the development of various documents related to the project.
5. Produce the quarterly and annual reports of the Project and contribute to the consolidation of the general report with the other partners involved within the required deadlines;
6. Support the implementation of the project’s Annual Work Plans by ensuring the consistency of activities, the synergy between interventions while ensuring that corrective measures are taken to enhance the effectiveness and quality of interventions;
7. Support the process of developing a monitoring and evaluation strategy by developing a methodology and indicators for monitoring and ensuring ownership of the project by local and national actors.

Institutional link
The Community Mobilization Expert will be under the supervision of the IRESCO Coordinator and will manage the activities of the Community Mobilization component of the malaria control project.
Profile of the candidate
At least a Master’s degree or equivalent in one of the following fields: Social Sciences, Public Health, Community Development.
Experience
Have at least ten (10) years of experience in the management of development and capacity building projects with relevant experience in the conduct of malaria control projects.
Experience in USAID or US government funded projects would be an asset.
Required Skills and Competencies
– Have knowledge of the issue of the fight against malaria
– Have established capacities in terms of setting up youth organizations;
– Have knowledge of capacity building for community-based organizations;
– Have a working knowledge of social and community mobilization techniques;
– Possess knowledge of the different styles of leadership as an instrument of advocacy, team management and projects that can provide consulting services in this regard;
– Have proven knowledge and skills in the field of multi-partner project management;
– Have written and oral communication skills in French;
– Having a good knowledge of USAID approaches and procedures would be an asset.
– Mastery of information systems;
– ICT skills:
o General mastery of computer tools (Spreadsheets, word processing)
o Mastery of Power point presentations
– Be willing to undertake regular field missions;
– Be able to work under pressure and in a team;
– Excellent experience in managing work teams both in the field and subordinates in a unit
– Written and oral command of English and/or French; fluency in both languages ​​would be a major asset.
Additional skills and competencies desired
– Demonstrate integrity by complying with IRESCO’s values ​​and ethical standards;
– Promote the vision, mission and strategic objectives of IRESCO;
– Demonstrate sensitivity and adaptability to cultural and gender diversity;
– Have a positive and constructive approach to work;
– Have a practical and in-depth knowledge of interdisciplinary development issues;
– Build strong relationships with targets and external stakeholders.
Working languages
​​Fluency in written and oral English is essential; fluency in French in addition to English would be a major asset.
