Job Opportunities: Foreign National Student Intern Program (FNSIP)
INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT – The US Embassy in Yaounde
The US Embassy in Yaounde is seeking eligible students for the Foreign National Student Intern Program (FNSIP) in the Budget and Finance Section. Students accepted into the FNSIP are offered the opportunity to gain experience working in foreign affairs. In addition to the fact that FSNIP is an uncompensated program , participating students are not employees of the US Embassy Yaounde, US Department of State, or the US Government.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
- PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: To be determined with selected applicant, based on the information provided in the Statement of Interest. Maximum duration of the internship will be three (03) months.
- NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK: 20 hours per week
- PLACE OF PERFORMANCE: Yaounde
- ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: To be eligible for the FNSIP, students must meet ALL of the following criteria:
A. Minimum Age : Students must be at least 18 years old at the time of participation in the program.
B. Citizenship/Legal Residence : The FNSIP is only open to students who are either citizens or permanent legal residents of Cameroon.
C. Meet Definition of Student : Applicants must meet the definition of student, as defined in 5 CFR § 308.101: “ Student is an individual who is enrolled not less than half-time in a high school*, trade school, technical or vocational institute , junior college, college, university or other accredited educational institution. An individual who is a student is deemed not to have ceased to be a student during an interim between school years if the interim is not more than 5 months and if such individual shows to the satisfaction of the agency that the individual has a bona fide intention of continuing to pursue a course of study or training in the same or different educational institution during the school semester (or other period into which the school year is divided) immediately after the interim. ”
*NOTE: To be considered for the FNSIP, students must have graduated from high school or equivalent secondary school prior to beginning the program and must be at least 18 years old.
D. Transcript and Permission : Applicants must be in good academic standing at their current educational institution and must provide a certified transcript verifying this. Applicants must also provide written permission from the educational institution at which they are currently enrolled to participate in the FNSIP.
- SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS TO BE COMPLETED BY THE STUDENT:
- Assisting with VAT reimbursements process.
- Assist in organizing and clearing Customer requests.
- Organizing file room and shredding and disposal needs.
- Receive and Stamp Invoices, Distribute according to the VE Matrix.
- Prepare Bills of Collections.
- Follow up staff advances.
- Other administrative duties, as assigned by Finance Management Officer and Finance Management Specialist.
- SECURITY CERTIFICATION: Applicants selected must receive a successful security certification from the US Embassy Yaounde before beginning the program.

- Filled and Signed Statement of interest ( download here )
- Official transcripts illustrating good academic standing
- Written permission from the educational institution to participate in the FSNIP
- Proof of citizenship or legal residence

US Mission does not accept faxed or paper applications. Applications must be submitted in a format compatible with Microsoft Word 2003-2010 or pdf. Applications submitted without complete documentation as listed above will not be considered.
