Good Neighbors Cameroon (GNCMR), is a branch of the International NGO Good Neighbors International (GNI), based in Seoul, South Korea. GNI has been in existence since 1991 and works in up to 40 countries around the whole world, principally in the domain of humanitarian action and community development.

 




 

Project Background:
The government of Republic of Korea through his International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will fund Good Neighbors to implement “Community-led management of Neglected Tropical Diseases through improvement of drinking water and sanitation environment in Central Region  of Cameroon”.
Good Neighbors Cameroon will implement the project from January 2022 to December 2024 in the Centre Region, Cameroon. Specifically, it will target all school age children from 5-15years living in the Centre Region in order to reduce morbidity and mortality by controlling NTDs, particularly schistosomiasis (SCH) and soil-transmitted helminthiasis (STH). Activities will include mass drug administration (MDA) support, community-led water and sanitation education/campaign, borehole installation, and so on.

Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Programme operation officer, the Wash Assistant will collaborate with the employees and volunteers of the organization.
She/he has to:
•    Support Program Operation Officer to develop WASH activity plans and procedures and monitor progress of the overall WASH activities with the team to ensure that all activities are on the right track
•    Manage WASH project related inquiries from colleagues and provide technical assistance for other NTD activities
•    Supervise on-the-ground activities (e.g. training, construction, etc.) including supervision of engaged partners in those activities to ensure that activities are delivered within a time frame and budget
•    Provide support to Program Operations Officer on the preparation/finalization of monthly/quanerly/yearly donor reports, activity plans, project budgets, and other key project matters/documents
•    Prepare and submit all mandatory administrative documents that are related to WASH activity on and off field
•    Collaborate with the team to build and maintain good partnerships/relationships with donors, stakeholders including the Cameroon government (e.g. Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of basic/secondary Education, Ministry of Water and Energy, etc.) at all levels, health personnel, and beneficiaries
•    Participate/support the execution of WASH baseline and end line survey
•    Prepare and submit in-country internal reports to Program Operations Officer or any other relevant departments
•    Ensure that internal shared documents are fully up-to-date at all times
•    Undertake any other project related duties assigned by Project Manager
Required Oualifications:
To be admissible for this position, the candidate must satisfy the minimum qualification.
The candidates would be preselected and those who meet the minimum qualification would be considered. The minimum qualifications necessary for the position are listed below:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in water/environmental engineering with at least 3 years directly relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of academic and work experience
•    Familiarity with NGOs or international development organizations is strongly preferred
•    Fluency in written and spoken English and French
•    Computer literacy with MS word, excel, and power point
•    Report writing skills
•    Ability to communicate effectively across countries with partners and donors
•    Willingness to work under pressure and high work load with a positive mind and attitude
•    Willingness to be on the field
•    Ability to adapt oneself to different circumstances
•    Ability to undertake domestic and international travel
•    Ability to deliver assigned duties on time with accuracy
•    Experience in community development projects is strongly preferred
•    Extensive skills and experience in project planning and management
•    Ability to have good relationships with internal and external partners/colleagues
•    Great level of sensitivity and respect for vulnerable groups
•    Integrity in any circumstances
•    To be in excellent health condition
