Summary:
The work schedule for this position is:

Full Time (55 hours per week)

Duties
Protects US Government personnel, facilities, and equipment from damage or loss. The Local Guard force (LGF) is one component of the Mission’s security apparatus and complements other physical, technical, and procedural security systems. The LGF shall carry out specific actions as described in General and Post Orders. Prevents unauthorized access; protects life; maintains order; deters criminal attacks against employees; dependents and property and terrorist acts against all US assets and prevent damage to Government property.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:   A minimum of 4-year experience in the military or as a police officer, or security guard required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Awareness of cultural norms and customs required.

Education Requirements:
Completion of Primary School.

Ratings:
LANGUAGE:  Limited knowledge of French and English (Writing/Speaking) is required. This may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to understand the security control panel and to operate emergency alarms and the public address system. Ability to use state-of-the-art security and radio communication equipment. Ability to use Automated External Defibrillator. Ability to use fire extinguisher. Ability to use personal protective equipment (ie batons, pepper spray, handcuffs, and flexi cuffs, etc.). Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods in a wide variety of weather conditions. Ability to work flexible shift schedules, to include nights, days, weekends, and/or holidays. Must be able to take action with guidance as necessary depending on the nature of incidents outlined in guard orders. Must be able to communicate with persons from all socioeconomic classes. Must be familiar with dispute mediation tactics to ease potentially dangerous security situations. Driving License is required / Computer skill is required. This may be tested.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
