Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main purpose of job:
This is an exciting multi-hatted role with responsibility for a varied range of Corporate Services (‘management section ‘) support activity. This role assists in the effective delivery of the platform that is, in turn, essential to the functioning of the British Government’s diplomatic activities in Cameroon.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt quickly and to work independently with minimal supervision. They will need to exercise good judgment and demonstrate excellent organizational skills including time management and the ability to prioritize effectively. Much of this role takes place away from the main High Commission building.
Roles and responsibilities:
Support the Corporate Services Officer to maintain the British High Commission’s office and residential property portfolio
Manage the work request data management process; ensure all tabs are accurately captured and are updated with new information throughout the work life cycle
Track and manage utility bills
Ensure proper documentation of minutes of meetings during the regular corporate services update meetings, and contractors meetings, amongst others
Serve as relief and alternate BHC Receptionist, receiving calls and directing visitors. Receive and sort mail including diplomatic mail
Carry out market survey as required to update and maintain current the agreed supplier list
Schedule and arrange technical review panels as required for tenders and contracts. Support contract manager to file and keep up-to-date contract management files for contracts
Assist in carrying out store inventories and spot checks as requested
Manage stationery and IT consumables stores. Maintain up-to-date stores records and records of issuances. Notify IT lead when reorder levels have been reached
Other ad hoc support including filing, scanning etc.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
University degree
A can-do attitude with strong team working and customer service skills
Interest in a career in management, administration or logistics
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Good written and verbal communication skills
Competence in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook and Excel
Ability to prioritize a range of work streams in order to deliver efficiently
Language requirements:
Language: English and French
Level of language required: Operational proficiency
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Commercial and or technical background
Previous experience in an office environment
