Position Summary
Nascent Solutions, Inc. (Nascent) seeks an entry-level HR Officer. The successful candidate will
provide administrative support, assist with hiring, schedule new employee orientations, track
training, and monitor employment records. We seek to employ a professional with a solid
understanding of local HR policies and regulations and who is knowledgeable in employee
relations, staffing coordination, payroll, and benefits administration.

Nascent Solutions (Nascent) is a US-based international development organization. Its mission is
to enable vulnerable people, especially women and children in rural Africa, to develop skills for
self-sufficiency. The organization focuses on food security and nutrition, health, literacy and skills
development, and gender equity.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Support internal and external inquiries, hiring processes, and job postings.
• Assist with maintaining employees’ digital and electronic records.
• Serve as point of contact with benefit vendors and administrators.
• Assisted with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, performing reference
checks, issuing employment contracts, and supporting country teams to do the same.
• Oversee the completion of compensation and benefit documentation.
• Assist with performance management procedures.
• Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events and maintain agendas.
• Coordinate training sessions and seminars.
• Perform orientations and update records of new staff.
• Produce and submit reports on general HR activity.
• Complete termination paperwork and exit interviews in conjunction with management.
• Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices.
• Maintain high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and information.
• Other duties as assigned and related to administrative/HR duties.
Qualifications required
• Bachelor’s degree in an HR-related field.
• 3-5 years of HR and administrative experience, particularly with international non-profit
organizations. Comfortable communicating across cultures and time zones.
• Solid understanding of MS Office and related business and communication tools, including
data entry, employee processing, communication tools, payroll, and human resources
software (QuickBooks, ADP, or Salesforce) is a plus.
• Working knowledge of US government award mechanisms, procurement rules, and
regulations is a plus.
• Basic understanding of payroll practices, Labor Law, and employment equity guidelines
• Experience in executing HR functions and applying best practices.
• Willingness and ability to undertake a broad range of tasks as necessary in a small, growing
organization.
