JOB DESCRIPTION

NRC is implementing projects in the North West and South West Regions since 2018. All NRC Core Competencies, Education, WASH, Shelter, ICLA, and Livelihood and Food Security, are carrying out their programs in these 02 regions. Due to a grant received from the European Union in November 2022, there is a dire need for a Livelihood and Food Security (LFS ) assistant to facilitate project implementation. The Assistant will be charged with the following responsibilities.



 

RESPONSIBILITIES

A- Generic Responsibilities

  1. Follow-up on project activities on the field.
  2. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines
  3. Contribute ideas to the development of project proposals and provide support as the need arises.
  4. Support the implementation of different projects (activities, budgets, and project documentation) as delegated by the Project Coordinator/Officer in conformity with proposals, strategies, and donor requirements and ensuring optimal quality.
  5. Regular reporting to the direct supervisor on the progress of the project by giving oral and written reports.
  6. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries with greater protection needs and evaluate new and better ways to provide assistance to them.
  7. Ensure beneficiary capacity building on project activities and the transfer of key competences.
  8. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  9. Ensuring that NRC LFS activities are within the LFS Clusters coordination and the cash working Group

 

 




 

 

B- Specific Responsibilities

  1. Be the focal point of the SIDA emergency project on the field
  2. Provide support in the selection of project implementation sites and beneficiaries in target areas.
  3. Participate in the identification and registration of beneficiary households.
  4. Participate in the implementation of LFS activities and complaints management in the field.
  5. Support implementation of project baseline and endline data collection.
  6. Support various aspects of the project implementation at the community level such as timeliness of project activities implementation, and compliance with standard requirements during project implementation.
  7. Input in the development project proposals as new needs arise in the field, identification of potential suppliers at the community level in coordination with Logistics and the LFS PC/officer;
  8. Provide support in the translation of various training materials including livelihoods skills development, community development, and stakeholders’ capacity building).
  9. Provide support in the planning and implementation of project activities.
  10. Support the procurement requests of program inputs and support the LFS PC in preparing procurement plans for various projects.
  11. Contribute to preparing and submitting weekly or monthly activity reports as required.
  12. Ensure smooth collaboration with the community leaders, beneficiaries, local authorities, UN agencies, INGOs, and other relevant stakeholders at the field level in the implementation of project activities.
  13. Participate in any relevant project monitoring visits by local extension services and other Government technical staff to project sites as required.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

C- Professional Competencies for this position/ Requirements

  • University degree or Senior Technician Diploma (A Level +2) in Agriculture, veterinary, economics, Social Sciences, natural resource management, Environmental Science/Forestry.
  • 2 years of experience in the relevant fields of Local or International NGOs
  • Experience in working in the South-West or North-West Regions
  • Good knowledge of the cultures and local languages of the North-West region
  • Good knowledge of the national and international laws and standards on Livelihood and Food Security
  • Knowledge of the usage of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, and with limited supervision
  • knowledge of English and working knowledge of French.
  • Good communication skills
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation Skills

We offer

•    Beginning:  February 2023
•    Duration of the contract: 12 months, renewable depending on the availability of funds
•    Salary / Benefits: In accordance with NRC’s Salary Grid.
•    Duty station: Bamenda
