NTU International A/S is leading a consortium for a new EU-funded project – Master Plan for the Modernization, Strengthening and Development of Port, Landing and Enhancement of Maritime Fisheries Products Infrastructure in Mauritania by 2040 and is seeking to identify individual experts to carry out this mission.
The overall objective of the service is to contribute to the instruction of the EU’s “Blue Economy” action through the development of a draft Master Plan for the Modernization, Strengthening and Development of Port, Landing and Enhancement of Maritime Fisheries Products Infrastructure in Mauritania by 2040. The purpose of the Master Plan is to guide the planning of short, medium and long-term investments in this area and thus contribute to the operationalization of the sectoral strategy which places great emphasis on the promotion of infrastructure.
Duration: The indicative start date is February 1, 2025 and the period of execution of the specific contract, excluding the deadlines for validation of reports, will be 90 days from this date. Indicative end date: April 30, 2025.
Location: The normal places of assignment of the mission will be: the experts’ homes. However, this study provides for two missions in Mauritania (mandatory). Missions outside the normal places of assignment will take place in Nouakchott and along the entire Mauritanian coast, outside the Banc d’Arguin National Park area.
KE1 Team Leader: Maritime Infrastructure Expert – HB
☝️ Qualifications:
University studies of at least 3 years in maritime engineering, civil engineering, marine sciences, environmental management, geography and land use planning, economics and management or any other similar or relevant field (or 5 years of equivalent professional experience in the absence of these studies).
☝️ General professional experience:
At least 8 years of demonstrated experience in planning and development of maritime infrastructure.
☝️ Specific professional experience:
Experience in the assessment, design and modernization of port and landing infrastructures, including the management of facilities for artisanal and industrial fisheries.
Skills in maritime engineering and in the use of modern technologies adapted to maritime and coastal infrastructures.
Experience in integrated territorial planning to optimize the use of coastal resources.
Skills in the use of geographic information systems (GIS) and in the mapping of maritime and coastal infrastructures would be highly valued.
Experience in consulting stakeholders, including public authorities, local communities, private operators and civil society organizations including experience in organizing and facilitating workshops and focus groups.
Ability to integrate sustainable management principles and environmental standards into infrastructure design and recommendations would be highly valued.
Skills in coordination and management of multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient and timely delivery of deliverables.
Demonstrated mastery of project management methodologies, including monitoring and evaluation of expected results.
☝️ Language and other skills:
Fluency in spoken and written French.
Ability to produce clear, structured and strategic reports, tailored to the needs of decision-makers and technical and financial partners.
Communication skills to ensure effective restitution of results to different audiences (technical, institutional and non-specialist).
